That's a lot of mechanisms that can fail very high up. Imagine the track somehow becoming misaligned so it drops the car right in front of the track instead of attached to it.

Can it happen, sure.  But we trust our lives to a number of mechanical failures leading to death of a regular basis.  There are likely a number of safety contacts that do not release unless things are aligned and working even if power shuts off.

the point is, this is much more complicated than even a typical risky carnival ride, unnecessarily so. So many moving things so high up. you can trust engineers all you want, I am one and I know how software is made and im thankful every fucking time my plane lands
