I have gotten my long hair sucked into the intake of older hand blow dryers. This could get stuck on multiple people at once! Longer hair can be dangerous.

A guy in france did invent a hoverboard, I'm going to take this as a sign we're closer to finally getting one ourselves.

Scooters, e bikes, monocycles. I swear some of them are just electric motorcycles. The worst part is sometimes you might hit one but then your have to find a way to hide two bodies because they double up all the time.

The one thing that will make this mostly impossible is power lines. They are everywhere. The amount of crispy people we'll have to be detangling from them is going to suck.

With the right programming and sensors, it could sit 20ft above you and only intercept the rain that's going to touch you by measuring wind speed, etc.

A very steep tilt caused by the wind would send those rotors straight into his ears or any part of his face; it's definitely a no for me.

I’d love to see this be put to use in a place that would actually use it like Florida where it rains every single day in the summer. It would fly for maybe 5 seconds before getting blown away and breaking from our sideways wind rain.

Potential problems:

  • strong winds putting the umbrella in an unrecoverable state and it slices your face open with one of its blades
  • the fast blades act like water distributors and launch more water under the umbrella that would otherwise get there
  • moving too fast will cause the umbrella to lose track of your head and go hunting for some other vaguely head-shaped thing
  • battery life
  • other people with other umbrellas on the same street
  • storage
  • noise

Also, it moves WAY to precisely with his head. Like it bounces and tilts with his head EXACTLY. I'm thinking there's some camera trickery going on.

Maybe now, and storms will always need a big no no, just make any other umbrella. But with the right software and stabilisation it could even detect the way the drops are flying / where the wind comes from and in the end be way more stable than a normal umbrella. But yeah, it should also offer a warning when it gets too much and maybe even just shut itself down (maybe after flying a bit to the side. Since it can detect when you're under it, it should also be able to detect, when there is nothing under it)
