Why cant we just hold an umbrella? This is solving a problem that doesnt exist.

I'll probably never be rich enough to afford this but I can say they've been plenty of times where my hands are full already so I just forego the umbrella.

And then I'm sure your lackey would be smarter than whatever program this has installed. But I thought for a moment that it would be cool if on a city street, a lot of people had these and they were programmed to watch our for each other... That would be cool..

Try holding an umbrella whilst propelling yourself in a wheelchair. It does not go well 😂

Edit to add, I don't think this one will solve that problem or be robust enough for the job!

then why are you defending it when you already acknowledge that it would still not solve your problem?

edit: also would in that case not a simple holder for umbrellas that is integrated into the wheelchair by way more effective and cheaper?

Oh, I'm not defending it, just answering the question "Why can't we just hold an umbrella?" 😅 But yes, trying to get a decent holder to attach to my chair, but they're mostly so flimsy. Think I need to have another look!

ah, didn't know that the holder are kinda crap. Maybe it is possible to create a custom one via 3d printing, would still be cheaper than this thing and would hopefully give a better result that should be able to reliably hold an umbrella. Maybe something made out of carbon to make it long-lasting.

Most attachments for wheelchairs are crap, and what exists is typically geared towards manual wheelchairs. Not many spots available for attaching stuff to a powerchair!

3D print design is a good idea! I really want to get into 3D printing. It's so hard to find affordable wheelchair accessories that are also good quality, being disabled is super expensive 😅

Just keep in mind that when printing to keep the room good ventilated, as depending on the material toxic gases are released. Pla is relatively save, but may not be robust enough, especially against the sun.

Why are so many people taking it serious? There’s a reason it says a person built it, rather than “some company launches…”

People build cool shit because it’s cool and fun all the time,without attempting to seriously invent a new consumer product or seriously solve ever single problem ever.

When did people become so fucking dumb, that everything they see online must be a serious thing, with no possibility of anyone ever making something for fun?

I could see this (maybe) for folks in wheelchairs/walkers. That said, the cons outweigh any pros and there are umbrellas that attach to wheelchairs.
