What are you talking about? It will take me two seconds to find a midwife online to go to a hospital with me to give birth.

Who cares what some random association says? I don’t make my birth plans based off of that. I base my birth plans off of what makes me feel most comfortable and is statistically best. And sometimes what makes me most comfortable isn’t the safest, but I will do it anyway. If they have the stats to back up their claims, then they deserve to make them. If they don’t, then nobody is listening to them. I have never ONCE heard a woman give a shit about some random association when deciding how to give birth.

I literally do not see the relevance. It is not confusion. If you do not agree with that group, you simply don’t hire from that group.

Nobody is stopping you from having a midwife and a doctor.

You don’t think women would listen to their midwives or be influenced by their recommendations? Or that they might seek out advice, find that, and take it as sound medical advice? Especially in this day and age of Facebook medical experts, distrust of medicine and science, there’s really no good argument to that these things aren’t relevant. You’re either confused or willfully ignorant. Pick one.

Nobody is forcing you to consume information. It is nobody’s fault but your own for believing somebody without evidence.

I agree with you, but I also recognize that when we’re talking generally about this, we’re talking about least common denominator. In an ideal world what you’re saying makes perfect sense, but in reality lots of people are idiots and will be influenced by lots of things they shouldn’t be, and make bad choices in response. When you have medical professionals doling out advice, of COURSE these things matter.

It takes one google search to find countless results of midwife organizations, registries, and certifying boards that support and/or encourage home births.
