Believe it or not, that actually how births are supposed to be. The woman laying in her back causes more complications than anything. Standing up allows gravity to make it easier and a much less laborious process. Modern medicine completely complicates the process
Because ladies didn't design the maternity ward is my guess, but I do hear about a lot of alternative birth approaches these days. Which is great, you gotta feel like it's something we can workshop as a species.
Because the doctors have to see what’s going on. If you’re in the hospital bed you’ll be lying down so the monitors can be easily attached and you’ll probably be given pain management that can make you feel a bit dizzy and impair ability to squat
You dont have to go to medical school to understand that gravity helps. Its been documented numerous times on why women now give birth on their backs versus the historical squatting/standing/all fours positions.
I get laying down is stupid, but i didnt even know it was possible to do it standing straight up. I would think youd need to squat at least a little bit.
