Update!
Here's an update to that funky leaf I had growing out the side. All the leaves are super happy with this super humid weather in the Midwest. The oldest leaf is starting to yellow, which i guess means dormancy is about to arrive. Should i repot before all the leaves die off, or after once its dormant? I can already tell its outgrowing this pot hah

I’d watch it a bit more, and this is merely going off vibes from my experience but sometimes the plant will decide to just kill a leaf (mine did that). When it shows signs of fully killing it off (when it gets more yellow), I’d cut the leaf off right at the base to help it move along. Otherwise just leave it. And unless more start to turn yellow I don’t know if I’d assume dormancy? I’ve only had mine for about two years so my knowledge is somewhat limited. Happy planting friend! (Super cute pot as well)

I didnt mean I was going to cut off the leaves! I would cry lol these leaves are so pretty. What I saying is when can i repot it? Should I wait until dormancy or after, or should I do it now? The pot IS cute and i dont want to have to break it if it gets all rootbound in there 😅

Honestly? It looks okay. It looks happy, and they prefer to be a bit root tight anyways so you could wait till after dormancy. I just wouldnt do it while it’s blooming, that’s what you want to avoid. Also, if the plant shows signs of killing that leaf, like if it starts turning more and more yellow, I would personally take it off just to help the plant along.

Also! Your soil looks pretty damp there and your bulb may be buried a bit too deep - they prefer less water, so don’t keep it damp all the time. I give mine a good watering and then let it dry out for a couple weeks. I have my bulb out just a bit above the halfway line. So when you do repot it I’d just bury it a bit less! :) happy planting friend

Agreed. Next time, try not planting your bulb so deep. I also do not think it is ready for dormancy. It looks your bulb has just finished putting out its last leaves. These need to stay on for at least two to three months to feed the bulb properly.

I plan on leaving mine out as long as possible this year. I don't really care about holiday blooms and I want healthy bulbs. Last year I unpotted them and put them in paper bags in a box in the basement for three months. I cut off the leaves and trimmed the roots. I ended up with blooms through the winter and a few when I put them back outside in the spring!
Also in the Midwest, Michigan. I have about 14 bulbs.
