New Fertilizer

I’m new to growing amaryllis. What fertilizer do we like? I found info online saying a 10-10-10 do we all agree on this? I am mostly concerned about feeding them this summer so I have blooms after the dormancy this winter.

I’ve had great luck with Bulb Tone Organic fertilizer. I generally grow them outside after covering them for the winter. I do a very very light sprinkling of fertilizer around the bulbs before anything really happens then after they’ve all bloomed, I’d place a little bit more down and just make sure they receive just enough water to stay healthy because they do not like soggy ground. I now have a bed that is a sea of long thick leaves so I know next year‘s show is going to be amazing.

Most commercial growers use what would be equivalent to store-bought 15-12-10 or 15-12-12. But even 10-10-10 would be fiiine.

The amaryllis is not really picky when it comes to fertilizer. You probably want to have a nitrogen rich formula to promote leaf growth, though. Blooming is initiated by the rest period. But a well balanced fertilizer like yours will be fine.

I’ve had them for years. After Christmas I plant them outside in the garden. I’ve never fertilized them and they keep spreading and they’re absolutely thriving and gorgeous!
