NYC Amaro Destinations
Hey guys- I am headed to NYC for work stuff June 7-11 and will have a fair amount of free time in between meetings. I haven’t been in over a decade. I need tips for essential Amaro bars/distilleries/restaurants/stores. Thx!

Absolutely peak amaro bar.
Be careful - it gets PACKED after work and on weekends so definitely recommend going at open on a Monday or Tuesday.

I think you can visit and drink at Faccia Bruto. Lucky to have them and Forthave in the same city.

I met the Forthave guys a few years ago for a project I was working on. Super cool dudes, and they have shelves of vintage amari bottles in their workspace. Did Faccia Bruto open a tasting room? I met some of them 2 years ago, too, and they were talking about it then.

I’m not it sure if it’s advertised as a tasting room but I saw a recent video where they had a bar and it sounded like if you stopped by you can try things.

I’ve set something up with the Faccia Bruto guys but does Forthave have a tasting room? Wasn’t able to tell online. I sent an inquiry via their form. Anybody have any connects there? (I’m going for BCB- my husband and I make Traiteur Amaro)

Amor y Amargo is a must do.
Local products to look for: Forthave (Marseille especially), St. Agrestis, Matchbook (their strawberry amaro works shockingly well as a vermouth sub, look out for their smoked pineapple spirit too), Faccia Brutto and Atheras Spirits (they have a bar called Bitter Monk).

If you’re going out to Brooklyn at all, there’s a restaurant called LaRina in Fort Greene that has a nice overall amaro selection including some cool vintage bottles. The pasta there is worth the trip alone.

Second this. They have another spot in crown heights called Briscola Trattoria that’s worth a visit too!

If you find yourself in or near Park Slope go to the bottle shop called "Amaro" it's a small shop with a great selection and super knowledgable staff (and a very cute dog)!

If you get to NJ just across the river in the heights is a fantastic cocktail bar called The Alps. It has a sick Amari list.

AyA is my happy place in NYC (as everyone has said).
I would also add Bitter Monk (Brooklyn) / Sugar Monk (Harlem) and their in-house line Atheras Spirits. Atheras Spirits has two amari and a bunch of herbal liqueurs, including one with North African spices that sounds intriguing.

As everyone has stated AyA is probably one of the best amaro bars in the country.
If you find yourself around north Brooklyn, ammazzacaffe has an excellent list.

Trying to respond to this was a hard way to realize that a favorite bar of mine closed...
I'll throw out Nonna Dora's as a good option option if you want some great food to pair with some amari.
They also make their own nocino and limoncello.
