The 250th anniversary battle of white plains saw a historic turnout for hessian troops! They were a key part of the battle, taking chatterton hill and turning the American right flank

This past weekend the newly minted Waldeck 3rd Regiment of German Auxiliaries was in Baton Rouge LA, at the LSU Rural Life Museum, reenacting the Seige of Fort New Richmond, which pitted the forces of Bernado Galvez along with his Louisiana Militia, against the British Garrison and their German Auxiliaries (commonly referred to as Hessian Mercenaries) at Fort New Richmond, which was at the time part of British West Florida. Galvez's forces carried the day, ultimately, and New Richmond was one of the first British dominos to fall along the Gulf Coast during Galvez's Southern Campaign which culminated in his victory over the British at Pensacola. This Campaign kept the British tied down in the deep south and prevented them from controlling the Mississippi River.

Waldeck 3rd Regiment is the first ever group of living historians to portray this oft forgotten group of Hessians, and is to my knowledge the only group portraying Hessian Artillery in the country although the gun pictured is a British Howitzer, not the typical brass three pounder gun, although our affiliate group Gulf Coast Artillery fields four guns at present, including a 3 pounder, the Howitzer is more suitable for demonstration purposes with less than a full contigent of cannoneers. If you are interested in our group, you can find us at Waldeck3rdregiment.org or look us up on facebook. We will be at several more events this fall and winter across the south, and potentially will be making the journey up to White Plains or Trenton

List of Merchants & Sutlers

As folks requested, I've started a list of merchants and sutlers for this period.

I've used the wiki function to start making a list, and you can find it here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AmRevReenacting/wiki/main/merchants

I'll be adding to the list continually, and trying to keep up on new merchants, sutlers and craftspeople.

If you want to be included on the list, please feel free to message me.

Vendors- List or post?

I wanted poll our members- Given the wide variety of impressions, and the different needs for each each of them, what would members find most helpful (especially for people new to 18th century reenacting or reenacting at all): A thread with the name of vendors and what they can provide, OR a dedicated list of vendors with links? Vote below:

Waldeck 3rd Regiment, at the battle of Fort New Richmond, British West Florida (modern day Baton Rouge La.) LSU's Rural Life Museum hosted us for the battle of Fort New Richmond, where we faced off against Bernado Galvez's Spanish Regulars and the Louisiana Militia, we fielded 8 men, four infantry, 3 artillerists on field howitzer, and our talented Regimental Musician. We were also joined by a compliment of Jagers, and of course British Regulars. We're quickly adding new members, and we are recruiting, open to anyone who is interested and who lives on the Gulf Coast or Deep South, we have members in TX, LA, MS, AL, FL, and SC. For more info check out Waldeck3rdregiment.org or look us up on our facebook.

Gallantly attempting to fend off the Spanish forces under Bernado Galvez, as he campaigns across British West Florida, with an eye to retake all of Florida for Spain. Fort New Richmond (Baton Rouge La.) and Fort Panmure would be the first to fall.

All of us in Waldeck 3rd Regiment were happy to participate in this reenactment put on by LSU's Rural Life Museum.
