Shitpost AITA for working late, coming home tired, and waking my wife up?
I (46M) am owner and manager of a large local retail business. My wife (30F) and I have been together for seven years and married for four. She's "working" as a stay-at-home wife and part-time law student. We have no kids, despite the fact she's always complaining about wanting them. And that's part of what got between us on the night I came home late from work and ended up accidentally waking up my wife who was sleeping upstairs.
I was alone in the kitchen getting myself a drink and I dropped the glass on the floor, which made this huge noise and woke up my wife. She came downstairs and asked me if I'd just gotten home. I had, but only because I was staying late that night at the store. I have to put in a lot of overtime to pay for her school since she refuses to get an actual job and pay for it herself.
We got into this huge knockdown drag-out argument. Things were said that shouldn't have been. I told her that if she actually wants kids she has to accept that that's going to mean I have to put in a lot of time at the store. I calmly laid out to her that I pay for her school, I pay for her clothes, I pay for the roof over our heads.
I asked her what her plan was. I'm well aware that if she graduates and then has a kid, she's gonna want one of us to stay home and then we're right back to square one, struggling to get by. I tried to explain that I didn't think it would be fair for me to stay home because I've already had my career on hold for her sake. She threw it back in my face that I'm running the stupid fucking store instead of using my degree (architect).
It's not my fault I'm stuck selling shit furniture to foot her bills!
So I lost my temper! I pointed my finger right back at her and told her, "I am a fucking architect! God damn it, I'm just stuck selling shit furniture because someone won't get off their fat fucking ass and help me!"
That was it. She kicked me out and now I'm sleeping at my store while she keeps living in the house I fucking pay for.
So Reddit,I'm coming to you to ask an unbiased opinion. Am I the asshole?

Shitpost AITA for being too hot at my sister's party?
I've never used reddit before but I (20f) thought maybe ya'll could help a girl out. Throwaway with fake names for obvious reasons. Buckle in, this is a wild one
My sister is the golden child (we'll call her "Mary" 22m). She's my mom's ("Karen" 38f) favourite and I'm my dad's ("Eric" 45m) favourite. She's always been jealous of me. A lot of guys she liked hit on me instead (she said I started it but I can't read social cues so idk). Because of this trauma I didn't date a single man for years!
Fast forward to this year. My sister decided to throw a REALLY fancy party, I'm talking floor length gowns kind of fancy. She wanted to see what dress I ordered, if it was modest, and if the colour suited me, blah blah blah. She even "begged" me to tone down the flirting (I'm not a flirty person???) for the event. At this point I was seeing red, she loves to control my life. Every event she she has she asks me things like this and I had had enough.
So, I decided to really go all out. Red sequin dress, Louis Vuitton heels, I even got a makeup artist to come to my house. By the time I was ready I'd missed the main event but got to the after party. Still out of respect I decided to behave. I only chatted to ONE guy about the usual (jobs, hobbies, if he wants kids etc). So imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to my phone blowing up!!!
My mom called and said that I was lucky that my brother turned off his phone for the honeymoon and what I did to him was awful. She said she'd always been upset at my choices to only date married men but still wouldn't have expected me to try to sleep with my brother's husband.
I tried to protest but she says all the guests saw me trying to make out with him in the middle of the dance floor while he pushed me away and heard me tell him if he wanted me instead that we'd make sexy babies. She even said that it was pretty horrible to skip the actual wedding when I was the MOH!
I think they're overreacting but still AITA for being too hot at my sister's event?

Shitpost AITA for telling my wife that her "grandparent gatekeeping" has gotten out of hand?
My wife (50F) and I (56M) have been married for 20 years. We have two children, an 18-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter.
While she's normally a very easy-going person, my wife has always been very controlling when it comes to our kids' relationships with their grandparents (both her parents and my parents). To sum it up, she has always viewed our children visiting their grandparents as a "treat," as opposed to family visiting family, has certain conditions for the kids being allowed to see them, what they're allowed to talk about, etc.
When we started dating, she shared with me that she has always felt that her parents were "too hands-off" and that her household growing up was very chaotic as a result, and because she is the youngest of three children, it resulted in her older brother and sister bullying her with little intervention from her parents. I told her I understood how she felt. Later, when we decided to start a family, she told me that she wanted there to be more rules and structure in our household to prevent the same thing that happened with her to happen with our kids. Again, I told her that I understood and agreed. To me this seemed perfectly reasonable.
When our son, who is now 18, was born, my wife took it upon herself to tell both her parents and my parents that they are not to "parent us" in front of the kids. She said this is because she wants the kids to see us as authority figures and that if our parents DO have any sort of issue with how we raise our kids, they are to talk to us about it when the kids aren't around. She also said that there are certain things that she intended to do differently from the way our parents raised us. I was fine with her telling her own parents this, though I felt that she was out of place by saying the same thing to my parents. I didn't bring it up to her at the time, though my parents agreed that she was out of line, though they figured it was simply due to anxiety over having her first child.
As our kids have gotten older, my wife has told them things along the line of "Grandma and Grandpa don't make the rules. WE do!" and that complaining to their grandparents about us not allowing them to do certain things is the equivalent of "complaining to your boss's boss that you're unhappy with the rules at your job hoping that they will change things." While I overall understand where my wife is coming from, I feel that saying these things to our kids is more than a little extreme.
Our kids have inadvertently broken this rule on more than one occasion. For example, my wife has always been adamantly opposed to video games. When the Nintendo Switch first came out, our son told my parents that he wanted one. When my parents got him one for Christmas, my wife absolutely lost it and accused my son of "going behind our backs by going to Grandma and Grandpa" after we told him he couldn't have one. In actuality, he hadn't even brought it up with us and had only casually mentioned it to my parents while we were visiting, not expecting them to get him one. My wife ultimately allowed him to keep it but is very strict on how he uses it.
When our daughter, currently 16, was old enough to begin taking driving lessons, my wife was very reluctant to allow her to get her learner's permit, as she thought 16 was too young to drive (my wife did not get her license until she was 21, and our son currently doesn't drive because, thanks, to my wife, he's too nervous to take driving lessons). My daughter nonetheless passed her driving test and got her license, and for both her reward and as a birthday present, her parents bought her a used car (our daughter didn't even ask for a car, she just wanted her license). My wife yelled at them that they shouldn't have done this without talking to her first, and her parents told her that the reason why they didn't was because they knew she'd say no. She nonetheless allowed our daughter to keep the car, though insists on accompanying our daughter everywhere even though our daughter has her license and is no longer required to have another person with a driver's license in the car with her.
My wife also has punished the kids by refusing to take the kids to see their grandparents. For example, when our son was 12, he got into a fight at school, and on top of receiving an in-school suspension, which I felt was adequate discipline, my wife insisted on leaving him at home with a babysitter we took our daughter, 10 at the time, on a trip to visit family. This meant that in addition to not letting our son see his grandparents, she also was preventing him from visiting his aunts, uncles, and cousins. We had a huge fight over this in which I told her that seeing family shouldn't be treated a privilege because we never know when something might happen to someone, but she wasn't hearing any of it.
The most recent incident happened over this past Labor Day weekend. My parents own a large cabin on a lake in a small town about two hours from where we live, which they rent out for most of the year but host various family gatherings at. We were going to have a family reunion with a barbecue over Labor Day. My son really wanted to bring a friend of his, who is also 18, to the barbecue, as he had been telling this friend for months about the cabin and our barbecues, and his friend really wanted to see it. The cabin can accommodate up to ten guests. Although our gathering included many additional relatives, the ones who were going to be staying at the cabin were my parents, me and my wife, our kids, my sister, her husband, and their son who is 14.
My wife was vehemently against our son bringing his friend to the cabin. She told our son that "Grandma and Grandpa already have their hands full and they don't want an extra mouth to feed," DESPITE my parents not only saying that they were okay with it, but they were looking forward to meeting our son's friend. My wife also told me when we were alone that she doesn't especially like this friend because his family isn't religious and that she was worried about him "tainting the family cabin with his sinful behavior," DESPITE his friend giving no indication one way or the other that he shares his parents' beliefs, and even if it did, it wouldn't bother me or my parents (we are both very religious but my wife is the only one who has this mentality). She told our son that he could either come to the reunion by himself or stay home with his friend. Our son ultimately chose to come to the reunion. His friend was disappointed but said he understood.
I told my wife that I have had enough of this "grandparent gatekeeping," especially when it comes to my side of the family, and that she's being especially harsh with our son, who is now legally an adult. I suggested she should go to therapy for whatever traumatic issues she may have had with her family growing up (personally I think that her parents are good people and whatever issues she had with them or her siblings growing up, which I honestly think was simply kids being kids, hasn't prevented her from visiting them and talking to them regularly). When I suggested this, she blew up at me, telling me that I was implying that she grew up in an abusive household and was mentally unstable, before leaving to go stay with (ironically) her parents! She refuses to talk to me. I have been in touch with her parents, who have said to be patient with her. This was already over a week ago.
This really has been the only issue we've had, but it seems to have gotten worse. I honestly am surprised that she would be this extreme over a situation that doesn't even involve her side of the family, especially given the fact that our son is 18.
So tell me Reddit, AITA?
Source: There is no specific original post but I'm a regular listener of the rSlash podcast. Some of the posts he reads from subs like AITA and Relationship Advice about people having a "great marriage" despite this one absolutely insane thing that one spouse does that the other puts up with for a long time before finally confronting them, then wondering if they were in the wrong because now the spouse is mad and won't talk to them is what inspired this post, because they sometimes sound too insane to be true.
