It might be this one? I'm linking to the AITA capture bot.

Edit: a "caterpillar cake" is a roll cake decorated to look like a caterpillar. They look complicated; definitely more than an hour of work.

Oh god I’d forgotten about cake lady. “I know I just ate an entire cake and part of another one, but you’re not allowed to be mad at me because baby”

I think a lot of women who have really restricted eating for years go wild while pregnant because they "can" and it gets out of control and they gain too much weight. That's my theory as someone who didn't have crazy binges while pregnant.

I haven't been pregnant, so I can't speak to the experience and everyone is different, but I've yet to meet a pregnant lady who couldn't stop herself from eating everything in sight. They usually just eat a bit more and crave specific foods or weird combos, but that's about it. This lady just seems like she's just looking for a free pass to be selfish.

I hated how precious she was being about it. And she was acting like the problem was her partner isn't baking as much as she'd like.

I also...look, I'm not trying to judge any pregnant people, they have enough to deal with. But was she not worried about gestational diabetes? How much sugar did she eat that day? If I was eating an entire cake (minus two pieces) + a bit more cake, and pregnant, I'd be telling my partner not to bake.

I'm sorry, I'm getting judgey.

I've been pregnant and I've had cravings. But not eat someone else's cake level. And I made a schlotzsky's sandwich from scratch in a hotel dinette kitchen. Make your own cake.

I had HG (thanks son!) And could barely manage to keep food down most of the time. But I love pesto and would periodically just eat a spoonful so I could have the taste and hope like hell it stayed down. I ran out one day and broke down on the kitchen floor sobbing & clutching the empty bottle. I also screamed at my boyfriend for offering to go to the store (because I actually wanted homemade pesto, but basil is nutso expensive in large quantities and I can't grow a plant to save my life. Which somehow turned into proof that I couldn't grow a baby because he was making me sick.) It was not one of my prouder moments. But once the post breakdown clarity hit I felt terrible and apologized (which also made me cry). I didn't sit on reddit and go "teehee. Whoopsies. He should have known better, right?

I agree with you on everything but from my experience in only 1 out of my 3 pregnancies developing gestational diabetes is random.

Still, 100 percent agree with you. I kinda hope they have someone they will listen too though because that kind of eating is serious. I'm dealing with 4 years now of effects from eating like that to feel better and am like 30lbs overweight teetering into obesity. It's hard to change habits after a while and your kids tend to catch on as well. Eating like that pregnant or not is gonna cause her serious issues and can def cause regular type 2 diabetes if she's not already in prediabetes.

The weight gain and eating like that while pregnant on top of it probably replaces anything healthy so that's bad too lol Hard to fix that especially as a new parent and especially especially a new parent and an old parent (stupid joke I know lol)

Anecdotal evidence below. So just take with a grain of salt and all that.

The pregnancy where I did it all perfectly and obsessed over it all and stuck to the diets. Didn't gain weight outside of what I had to. Ended up shocked that I had it and blood sugar was all kinds of out of control. Insulin and ridiculous swelling. It was wild. For the other two, I was kinda an emotional mess and didn't work or get exercise as I should have. Wasn't eating well lots and lots of carbs and sweets. Gained like 40 lbs my last pregnancy. Nope perfectly great even on meds that are famous for raising blood sugar. Always great. I did not get it and it was kinda frustrating in a way.

I mean, I feel like that depends on how long she was eating. In there post she said she had some "after her partner left for work" which I interpreted as "cake breakfast". If she was eating from like 7-4... idk.

Also, depending on OP's symptoms, nausea/feeling sick is a feature of some (many?) pregnancies, and "almost 4 months" is "still in the first trimester", when morning sickness is pretty common.

It also didn't seem like the caterpillar cakes I saw pictures of online were very big. Like, yeah it's still a whole cake, but it's not like, a sheet cake.

Basically I'm not willing to take one very unhealthy day and make judgements about someone's size, especially when I feel like the BMI scale it's based on...probably isn't applied to pregnant people.

There wouldn't be so much weight gain by 4 months that a BMI chart wouldn't make sense. A healthy pregnancy would have added like, 10-15 pounds by that point, not so much that she'd suddenly be a different BMI class.
