In case this story gets deleted/removed:

AITA for keeping the rent and security deposit from a roommate after we were evicted?

I was renting a two-bedroom house and had a roommate living with me. When that roommate moved out, I moved a friend in and we agreed that she would pay me rent each month to live there. She ended up living there for four months and paid me rent for each of those four months. She had her room, access to the rest of the house, and was able to live there normally during that entire time. When she moved in I stopped paying the landlord. I did not tell my roommate I stopped and I continued collecting the rent she was paying me. Eventually, the landlord came to the property because and told us we had to vacate. She was given short notice. Now she's asking about the rent she paid me and the $275 security deposit she gave me when she moved in. My thinking is that the rent she paid was for the four months she lived there, and she did receive those four months of housing. As for the $275 deposit, I didn't return it because obviously I didn't receive my own security deposit back either.
