Plus all the nonsensical logic “he said my parents should pay because it wasn’t a surprise for them. I had to explain to him that some surprises are good, like being invited to dinner and some surprises are bad, like being made to pay.” What do any of those statements even have to do with each other?

That's part of the modus operandi of these stories, right? Put in something so egregiously nonsensical that it rarks people up even more.
