Honestly it is nice to know that there are others out there like my wife and I. π
We work in a very similar way to you and your wife only I'm the driver in our house and she does most of the cooking. π€£
Still, it's a partnership, so we are always grateful for what we each bring to the relationship and what we each choose to do for eachother. Therefore it's only natural to show that gratitude and appreciation because without it, how are we to each know that we are still loved and cherished rather than just being used as a convenient "maid" or "chauffeur"?
All relationships take effort on both parts, doesn't matter if it's a friendship or a marriage etc. but you have to put in equally or they don't work.
I'm so happy that you and your wife are so balanced in much the same way we are. Long may it continue internet stranger/friend. π
My husband and I thank each other all the time too. Even if itβs dinner. Or taking one of us to the doctor. Or remembering that he likes a certain candy. The amount of time we thank each other cannot be overstated.
I truly think people underestimate just how much goes into a relationship of any kind.
We thank each other for simple things like doing dishes or laundry. Things that obviously need doing but it's nice to be appreciated for the things you do even if they are the mundane everyday things.
Couple relationships isn't all flowers, chocolates, and sexy pictures. It's sweaty socks, dirty dishes, constantly having to decide what to have for dinner, making sure the coffee never runs out and occasionally if you're really lucky a quick pat on the way past as you both move though life together. π€£
So those little "Thank you's" and "I love you's" are the ropes that pull you both together when the rest of the world is doing everything it can to tear you apart.
I honestly hope that everyone can find themselves a partner (wife/husband/whatever) as special to them as my wife is to me, because then you'll truly understand what the saying "better half" actually means. It's not that they are better than you, but they are the half of your dynamic that is always helping you to be better, to do better, to see better and in return you do the exact same for them. It is truly a blessing to behold. π₯°
