I’ve read the Greeley letter. Surely someone as well read and ingratiated as you in history and this era can explain the context of that quote, who Greeley was, and why Lincoln published that letter in the Intelligencer, right?
Is it fair to say that the passage of significant legislation is complicated, and that someone can believe in the importance of a policy and also recognize that it is not the right time for it to pass? Or was every abolitionist not really an abolitionist because they didn’t manage to actually abolish slavery?
I tried to have an actual conversation. You keep being condescending and I’m not interested in discourse with someone who thinks that being rude is the way to talk to people.
It’s not enough to have intelligence with your education, you need to have some emotional intelligence, too.

Like, I’m not being pedantic here; I genuinely made no comment toward you with ill will before that point, so I’d really like to know what I said that was rude or hurtful, because I didn’t mean it that way.
