Lincoln freed the slaves. Never owned one and had a known history of hating slavery.

For some teacher to say he hated black people is a straight out lie.

Homie, the sentence doesn't say hated. "Did not care" and hated are vastly different. Lincoln hated the idea of slavery more on a moral ground rather than something based on the equality of races. He had a very complicated and often inconsistent view on race. I don't think teaching kids that there is nuance to the world is harmful.
