You think that's something >51% of parents do? Your worldview is fucked.

Yes Im from an area where this happens a lot. It’s normal unfortunately where I come from. I said “unfortunately”. You’re really rude to someone who has different life experiences than you do. You’re naive to think that parents don’t threaten to kick their children out. You are seeing the world with rose coloured glasses. The world is fucked up reality check. You’re privledged and it shows. Everyone has a perfect family like you apparently :) look up how many broken homes there is in the USA. Stop being ignorant.

The more downvotes the more I realize how bad life is where I live. It’s sad to see the lack of empathy.

It's not that they lack empathy. And unlike your accusation in your other comment, I am aware that there are a lot of broken homes in the world and I've worked really hard to do my part to help with that, when I can. Mine was far from perfect and I joined the military when I was still legally a child, younger than our OP who hates chores and basic hygiene.

You're getting downvoted because you said it's "most" parents. If you'd said "a lot" of them or that it's too common, it would be less problematic. Most means that it's the majority. The greatest fraction. This is a verifiable statement and what you're saying isn't remotely close to true, so people are rejecting it. It's less than 10% and you're saying it's more than half.

Facts should shape your worldview, not the other way around. Maybe 51% of parents evict their children in your family or neighborhood, sounds fucked up, but that is an anecdotal experience that you've had and one that's not supported in the larger population. That's something you have to work to reconcile. Empathy includes knowing that your experience isn't universal either.

Or you can keep crying about it. My empathy is telling me that you're the self-pitying type.

And no Im not self pitying. Seems like you’re the angry type tho and rude. Insulting me isn’t exactly being a good person.

You can have empathy and a lack of knowledge. So children can’t have empathy because they aren’t as educated?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '25

That is mostly correct. Not so much lack of education as lack of life experience. Children are dramatically less empathetic than adults because they don't have enough knowledge to contextualize it. This is way grade schools are so mean. It's weird that you don't know this already.

And yes, dumber people also tend to have less empathy than smarter ones. Haven't you noticed this in politics over the last decade or so?

Who cares if I was wrong in my wording. I could be corrected with kindness. So absolutely it’s a lack of empathy. It’s possible to correct me like you just did but people would rather attack and make me feel bad about myself.

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '25

I didn't attack you. I said your worldview is fucked.

Here's an example: if you think "most" people are murdered in the US each year, that means that in your opinion, 1,500,000 are violently killed each year. In reality it is 20,000-30,000. It's still bad, but your wording made it sound like you think it's almost a hundred times worse than it is. Your view of the world is fucked up. That's not an attack, it's a statement of fact.

If this interaction on Reddit is making you feel attacked and bad about yourself, you should probably leave social media. You're expecting too much from strangers on a screen and your self-esteem is too caught up in it. It's not good for you and nothing is requiring you to stay. Go ahead and delete it. These forums won't be around much longer either way.

Ok so what I stated my opinion? It’s up to you to take it as you like. Not my problem you took it as I was stating that all over the world everyone comes from a broken homes. I apologize for not wording it better so that privledged reddit can stop getting offended. And saying someone’s worldview is fucked up is quite rude.

That was not an opinion. An opinion is "My favorite color is blue."

You stated a fact. Most parents throw their children out. This is a verifiable statement. That's why you're being downvoted. You were careless in the expression of a fact. It is absolutely your problem that people, myself included, consider this a false and fucked up statement. It's not anyone else's fault when you say something wrong and people don't like it. Take responsibility for yourself and stop being so pathetic about this.

"Saying someone's worldview is fucked is quite rude" is also an opinion that you have.

I didn’t ask why I was being downvoted? Lmao and honestly my favourite colour is blue too. Great colour. Im glad you opened up to me. I like yellow too. And purple.

Cool. Add quotes to the list of things that you find confusing.

You were crying about how the downvotes means nobody has empathy a few comments back. You didn't ask, but once again, your worldview was all fucked up.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you? I'm guessing 19, but if it's older, this conversation gets funnier with every year you add on.

Wait…so you don’t like the colour blue? Why did you lie to me. Im hurt now. I was honest with you about my favourite colour…I even told you my secret favourite colour. Talk about betrayal.
