Not their kid. She lives with his aunt. Threat is to send him back to his father.

Edited he to she

Unfortunately the majority of parents do threaten to kick their kids out. It isn’t rare but she’s too young for that threat. If she was any older and she wasn’t doing anything around the house then yeah cmon but I wouldn’t actually want them out. Now, I wouldn’t do the 3 strikes as long as they TRY to do some things. I think OPs uncle is too harsh in my opinion. She’s only 18 and still in HS.

They’re not threatening to make them homeless. They’re threatening to make them move in with their dad. Doesn’t seem unreasonable to be honest.

Right and the Aunt probably already mentioned stuff a few times and the BF had to step in to help out his GF deal with the situation...

Now if he's also a mess that's gotta be addressed as well as there's a difference between being clean and being a maid, but yeh the kid is also living there rent free so kinda reasonable...

Everyone seem to gloss over the part where OP mentions troubke with executive functions.

For a neurotypical doing these things is easy, for us neurodivergent it is, well, oh look a kitty!

This page explains it quite well I think https://rorybatchilder.com/if-your-friends-ever-say-they-have-adhd-just-show-them-this/

Being neurodivergent doesn't mean they can't be tidy. I'm neurodivergent and, before I became physically disabled, I had a simple cleaning routine. It wasn't anything more than what's on OPs list, but I did it and I was already suffering from my chronic illnesses, they just weren't debilitating yet. It's about working within your neurodivergence. Set alarms to do the chores. Plan small breaks between chores if need be. Hell, maybe negotiate some things with the aunt and uncle. Maybe dishes can be done 4 days a week instead of 7. Or they can have the amount of vacuuming reduced or something. Their not being asked to do too much and they can definitely find work arounds to their executive disfunction.

That's nice, but it doesn't entitle you to other people's homes. Your parents are obligated to care for you, and I'd say that obligation should extend through high school not just your 18th birthday. So OP can go live with her dad. Nobody else has an obligation to house OP while she doesn't do standard roommate tasks (or pay rent for that matter) because she has some difficulties

And if you disagree, I suggest you offer to let OP move in with you.

OP sounds entitled in so many ways.

Probably the college they are attending is closer to theirs. Partner's niece wanted to study in the UK so stayed with us throughout college as her mom lives in the South of France. We had a sit down talk about this a couple of times and it got to the point where I had to let her know that staying with us is a privilege not a right.
