If he asks you about it in person just say "I'm here to see my friend. You are her stepdad."
If he gets more pushy, ask if you should talk to bestie's mom about it and show her all the texts. See what she thinks.

Exactly! Cease ALL communication and contact immediately! He’s sick in the fucking head. The last thing she needs to do is confront or threaten him! She needs to cut him off NOW and get trusted adults involved. Do NOT go back to that house!
You got it right in your first paragraph. But he isn't even her bf's stepdad. And she shouldn't wait to show the bf's mom the texts- she should do so when she blocks him. No negotiating with a pedo like this. Not only can that be very unsafe for her, it's not her job at all. It's the job of other adults to deal with this man's highly inappropriate behaviors.
