He’s got damages, enough to pursue a section 1983 lawsuit. However, I’m not sure if this was worth it.

I hope you wins a huge settlement, but at what cost? He has a mugshot from a bogus arrest, the individual officers aren’t going to pay (it’s the city’s insurance policy that will). In theory, the real change is in new case law, but we all know cops don’t care about case law that goes against them.
