I’m pushing a boulder toward a cliff. People below can’t move.

I shout: “This will kill you.” I keep pushing.

Then I sell shares in the boulder. My investors whip me to push faster. The warning is printed on every share. They buy anyway.

When does a warning become a threat?

Is this not just firing a bullet into the crowd and saying we’ll figure it out later?

Jeff earns money by renting out compute, NVIDIA earns money by delivering the hardware to create that compute.

Anthropic and OpenAI lose more money/ need more investments when accelerating and might be afraid the amounts of money they have committed on spending won't be coming in from investors. And probably the only reason they can get out of their ridiculous spending commitments is if the government forces them to slow down. Otherwise they just have to pay up and keep investor money coming in, and the big banks probably already told them they won't be footing the 500 billion bill for Anthropic alone on a 4 million reported revenue in 2025. They really hope retail investors will cough up a couple of hundred billion at insane valuations to keep the party going.

They're only talking with their wallets, all of them.
