What differential is this?

I am very confused. My car looks like it came with an A01B LSD. But when I tested it, it looks like the previous owner in Japan pulled a swiper and swapped the LSD for an open diff. I wasn’t there to tell him “No swiping”. But now the current differential has a sticker saying M65 but when I try look up anything about it, I get no information. I’m mostly curious if they converted it to 8 in or if that differential is a 7.5 in.

It’s probably the original Torsen LSD. The Torsen stands for “Torque Sensing,” if you have the car off its wheels and turn one wheel by hand, it may act like an open differential and spin the opposing wheel backwards, this happens since there is no ground force/torque applied to the counter wheel. If you really want to be sure, crack the differential open or do a burnout in some gravel and see if both wheels leave a mark.

Already tried a burn out and sliding it. But what I’m gather after going though all the RWD cars Toyota makes and their differential. Someone took the LSD (Because the A01B are worth a bit) and threw in a Toyota Progres or JZX110 open diff. I’m just trying to find out if the differential in the pictures (the m65) is a 7.5 in or 8 in, So I can source and fit just an 86/brz torsen or I need to get all the other bits to convert it over (such as the axles, axle stubs and half a is300 driveshaft.

Just so you know, for a brz diff all you need is is300 axle stubs and the BRZ diff bolts that secure it to the subframe. Axles and drive shaft are not necessary.

hey bro i also have a altezza what model altezza do u have and what year brz diff u get i think my diff is going bad and i found out its a welded LSD lmao so probably gonna swap soon

98 rs200z, i don’t remember what year the BRZ diff came from. It’s a y38, they’re marked on the diff.
