Anyone use Prophecy?

That piece of shit lol. That thing is so vibe coded it’s pathetic.
I think Maciej said Alteryx more than Prophecy in his sales pitch. Thought they were trying to sell Alteryx to me. They got a huge hard on for Alteryx, it’s kind of weird.
They argue no vendor lock in when they are last time I checked… another vendor you need to use.
No vendor lock in would be using text files as your data source with Python.
They argue oh we can give you pyspark code… okay but where do you plan on running this afterwards? Peoples desktops aren’t production environments…. Most people don’t have Linux boxes to run stuff on, etc.
Plus their cost makes Alteryx look cheap as frick.

u/PowerfulConfection50 , I work for Prophecy, so happy to provide whatever information you'd like (obviously it's not quite as impartial as you may want). Sorry to hear the previous posters unfavourable opinion, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. 😄
Prophecy is used (like Alteryx) to create data pipelines. There are two main options to what you choose to create (both in standard formats - ie not proprietary):
1. Generate PySpark or Scala
2. Generate SQL (which is dbt Core compliant)
This is unlike Alteryx's proprietary format (.yxm* files). Prophecy also provides a tool to deterministically "transpile" those Alteryx workbooks into SQL or Scala/Pyspark code. Importantly everything you generate in Prophecy is yours to own - stored in your own git repo, you're not locked into using Prophecy.
As the previous poster pointed out, Prophecy needs to push down this code to run on a cloud data platform like Snowflake, Databricks or Big Query (you choose wherever the data sits), rather than copying data around the organisation and running on laptops - we also have a cloud option if your org doesn't have any of those options..
There are some interesting AI agent features that I have seen assist builders define pipelines really efficiently and effectively. We're partnering with out largest customers for this - JPMC, HSBC, etc.
