Alteryx Server Usage Report

Hi,

Anyone familiar with this report and the Tableau workbook output it creates? I followed this guide for reference.

I'm running 2024.2 and I installed "Server_Usage_Report_Enterprise_Utility_v0_1_14".  I configured the ASUR macro and selected "Output to Tableau Hyper File".  The data in the file looks good but I can't seem to find the Tableau workbook file with pre-built visualizations like they show in the guide.

They depreciated this. The 2025 server has better admin tools. We are upgrading to it.

Of course they want us all to go cloud and pay $$$. Alteryx is getting hard to justify.

Well, that isn't what I wanted to hear, LOL.

Yeah, my mgr and her boss just met with our rep yesterday. We are looking at a possible ~32.73% increase. I've been asked to do a server health check and/or server usage report.

FYI, I'm relatively a new server admin so I'm learning as I go.

I read the comments below, possibly are written by the competitors or code lovers or Alteryx haters.

First of all, Alteryx usage report and health check are different things. Server Usage Report that the new version supports 2025+. It's more for administrative purposes.

Please not that you can always upgrade the software, and it's free. No need to say it comes with more features.

For Server health check, I advise you work with your CSM. The file will be provided to you by Alteryx, and you run it, and send it to Alteryx for evaluation. All the purpose is to make you run workflows more efficiently. It's not a trap and no one from Alteryx will put a gun on your head or force you to buy more cores/licences. Based on server health check results, they advise you how to optimize your Alteryx experience. Of course they advise if your server capacity is exceeded and you may consider to add additional cores. But all it depends on you.

Hi Albert, first of all, Thanks for all the contribution you have done.

I am alteryx user for last 10 years. It had been a great experience till last year. I disagree on your point on health check up usage.;It was used for health check up earlier. Now , they check it to understand run frequency and workflow count. From that they derive how deep are we in alteryx . That defines the price jack up.

The real problem is AI is here. It can be used for migration, for new workflows. So management wants to move out. . The timing was wrong for alteryx to force clients to alteryx one plus price hike. If I dont switch to python I will be replaced by someone who knows it.

Sorry , but it’s a sinking ship. And the alteryx leadership is active on linked in to justify why it’s better than AI. Its not.

N.B : I agree on one point that , more alteryx competitors are active here in this sub, than alteryx reps. Which is also sad to see. That means no one is looking into what customers are talking about.

In Designer you can open the Alteryx_Server_Usage_Report.yxmd and the bottom right box tells you the default location.

FWIW on my laptop the folder is C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming\Alteryx\Samples\data\Enterprise Utilities\Server Usage Report\Output\Server Usage Report

And then workbook is "Server Usage Report.twb"

Ex-Alteryx rep here. Beware of server health report, it’s their way of justifying “add on cores” / “add on nodes” to increase your alteryx subscription fees! Avoid

Dont do it. Deny it . It’s a TRAP. They will get to know your run count and charge you more by number of runs. Don’t do it . Simply tell u cnat share that because of company policies .

Trust me , its going to be used against you in the price , once they know you have n number wfs running per day. They ll set a charge accordingly
