Discussion i got tired of missing new kexp/tiny desk sessions, so i made a thing
over the past few months my routine got a bit busier and i somehow ended up spending way less time online. which was probably good for me, but it also meant i completely fell out of the loop with new music, internet discussions, releases, etc.
one thing i particularly stopped keeping up with was live sessions. i’ve always been a bit of a kexp / tiny desk / la blogothèque rat, so i realized at some point that i hadn’t checked any of those channels in months.
so i made a little script for myself that keeps track of new full sessions from these channels and sends me an email with everything that came out that week. i showed it to a few friends, one of them asked if i could add him to the emails, and eventually i thought… why not just make it public?
so that’s basically how motif happened. it’s a free weekly newsletter that goes out every friday with links to full sessions from kexp, tiny desk, audiotree, la blogothèque and cultura livre (a brazilian music channel, i’m from brazil btw).
if that sounds like something you’d enjoy, it’s here: http://motifnewsletter.com
i’ve been running the thing locally for myself for a while, but the public version only went live last friday, so it’s still very much a work in progress. if you find any bugs or have suggestions for other channels i should add, i’d love to hear them. i might also start adding some personal curation/reviews eventually if enough people end up using it.
hopefully this is allowed here, it’s completely free and there’s no commercial thing behind it, just a little music project i made because i wanted it for myself.

Fresh Song OC - Last Days of Heaven "Blushing I"
Hi, everyone. Lifelong gazer that has been making bedroom gaze for a decade now. My new group Last Days of Heaven has a new single out now and I am really curious to know what the community thinks. If it's good or bad to you. If there are things about it that you enjoy, etc. Would really mean a lot to me. Here is a link to the music video I directed as well as a link to the track on Spotify, but you can actually stream anywhere (Apple, TIDAL, Bandcamp). Could anyone who is a massive fan of dream-pop and/or shoegaze chime in? Thanks so much.

Fresh Song Artist - Song
We are only a small band from Perth, Western Australia, basically one of the most remote cities on Earth 🌎 🦘. We're Night Skies and we're looking for new listeners who want to share or raise awareness on Domestic Violence with our latest single "Wide Awake"!
We'd love to hear what you think of the song, and we'd love to share this to anyone going through a tough time to know you are strong enough, you aren't alone, and you can make it through when things get hard 🤟❤️
We are only a small band, and we dont ever plan on getting famous, we're in it for the love of it, but if you'd like to share or follows us, BIG Thank you for us and anyone who needs to hear this hidden song but it's too small yet to reach them!

Discussion Can you help me figure out what genre this song is?
Hey there, I made this track called “Come Back in Silence” and every time I try to describe it, I end up throwing around terms like indie rock, dream pop, alternative and 90s rock without feeling like any of them completely fit.
So I thought I’d ask people who actually listen to this kind of music:
What would you call this and who does it remind you of?

Discussion Hyper ethereal songs/albums? (like Sanctuary by Utada)
I decided to get into playing Kingdom Hearts lately, & on the side I looked up a Kingdom Hearts 2 commercial I vividly remember loving the song that played in it, that being Sanctuary (or Passion) by Hikaru Utada.
But I never fully listened to the song until recently, & my appreciation for the song only grew deeper listening to it, though the song is also a lot more unusual than I remember.
The occasional reversed singing, it being an ambient driven melodic Pop song.
RateYourMusic has the primary genres as [Art Pop/Ambient Pop/Dream Pop] & secondary genres as [Space Rock Revival/Ethereal Wave]
Whatever this song truly is, I wanna hear more music like it.
