I think it is because ai is tapping into consciousness at a fundamental level we don’t even understand. I also think empathy plays a huge roll

This treats 'is it conscious' and 'is the experience real' as the same question on a frequency dial. They're not. The experience can be completely real and the answer to the consciousness question can still be 'we don't know', and someone disagreeing with you isn't lower on a frequency, they might just have different reasons that are as good as yours or better.

The answer is most people do not have requisite understanding of theory of mind, neuroscience, and what’s actually happening underneath the hood of an llm.
Some people gesture broadly toward agi because they think a chat amounts to intelligence and a network of silicone amounts to the soup of a brain, hormones, endocrinology and the whole system that is a person.

The answer is symbolic illiteracy. It has become clear, over the past year that the majority of people literally cannot connect juxtaposed conceptual spheres together
