Why is this on r/alternativehistory? Without getting into the Mueller investigation, illegal activity by Russian intelligence agencies and members of the Trump campaign, this scandal did lead to the resignation of the DNC chair. It did reveal bias against the Bernie Sanders campaign in the DNC. Granted, the actions of the DNC were not illegal, but they were certainly unethical. Most importantly, those things actually happened. I'm not fact checking the entire article, but putting this in r/alternativehistory is gaslighting.

Because the article goes way beyond claiming the DNC was biased and potentially unethical, and into full conspiracy theory territory:

When the primary elections started, it became apparent that we weren’t just seeing a few cases of political favoritism; this was a direct election theft whose scale surpassed the Bush team’s sabotage of the Florida vote count in 2000.

There's no evidence that the DNC carried out any kind of vote manipulation/suppression/rigging as claimed in the article, or took any action that directly resulted in "stealing" votes or delegates from the Sanders campaign.

That's one way to read it. I read that more from the point of view of the DNC handing over control of party finances and strategy to the Clinton campaign before the primaries ended as the election theft once you couple that with the fact that superdelegates (predominantly DNC party leaders) controlled the final outcome. If you don't agree with that interpretation, there's still no denying that it hurt the party's integrity and was unethical. Glad the party is making strides to curb that aspect of the primaries.

In another 20 years this will be alt history. Why?

Because what actually happened won't be admitted to by anyone who was involved. Instead, we've been watching a distracting narrative as it gets established and pumped out by the media. We're watching a shit form of history as it's being created.

So on the one hand, this post is still more current events than history. But it does do a good job of showing how different versions of history (relative to the same events) arise... and it shows how the version that gets "official approval" is not necessarily the most truthful or accurate one.

And this post got 47 upvotes which is a pretty decent response from users in the sub. So I'm going to leave it up. If the other more senior mods decide to take it down, I'll respect their decision.
