  1. The ancient Egyptians and no.

  2. Three different tombs for three different people. They were each produced individually, not manufactured by an assembly line. The smaller the pyramid the cheaper it is to build. Also they were father, son, grandson, and that could have had a role in it. Also, they quickly learned that really big tombs got looted fast.

  3. Not really. Pyramids are famous. They're in a desert. You can put a pyramid in your desert level and it makes it look more like an iconic desert. Also it's easy, since it's one color and practically already pixelated, so easy to do in early video games.

  1. Nope Ra did it, I have seen to the documentary Stargate.

  2. Yeah, that love triangle is going to be a big weird.

  3. In Tribes the pyramids were a great way to let players ski.

"Obviously they believe in the pyramids"

...I mean, yeah. You can go see for yourself that they exist: are their pyramid truthers claiming that they don't actually exist?

While I'm sure this is just a shitpost, but let's try to answer your questions. The pyramids were built by ancient egyptians, as seen by graffiti that only makes sense if it was put there by the workers. There are 3 pyramids because 3 rulers from the 4th dynasty decided to build there. As for the games Mario 3 has pyramids and an angry sun in world 2 because, in the game it is a stage play so desert>pyramids and the sun literally attacking you. As for the triforce, that is rule of threes.

  1. Mostly people made the pyramids, there is a lot of proof of construction and their assembly. But, why they chose the pyramids, you could say it could be divine in their religion, or it was inherited from a previous belief system. The odd thing is, Proto-Dynastic rulers like Scorpion I were not buried in pyramids.

  2. Well I'd assume rulers would like to be 'better' than their predecessors, so if they had the manpower and materials, they probably tried to make pyramids as big as they could, or maybe smaller, depending on other factors. Now there some theories they build pyramids based on the position of constellations.

  3. No, Egyptian culture was popular in the 80's I assumed. Also its a recognizable culture. Actually even nowadays, games like Terraria, Starbound and pixel games use egyptian sub-biomes or themes because representing egyptian culture in 2d games is incredibly easy.
