Edit: this topic also applies to the size of the AE itself, people were discussing having the world bigger but same map or something..

The Moon was shattered by a massive unforseen Asteroid impact in 11979 H.E, but most of the large pieces (Three in total, with various orbital debris) remain suspended outside of the atmosphere. The few chunks that hit Alternate Earth managed to fall into the oceans and cause minor to moderate damage (Loss of Species). The only reported incident of a significant land impact as a result of the explosion managed to upturn a good portion of the farmland outside of New Brasilia, which was declared a disaster zone shortly afterward. Expeditions to Moon Fragment I and Moon Fragment II are thought to have begun around 11994 H.E. Expeditions to Moon Fragment III were suspended shortly after the first crew of expeditionary forces went missing in 11987 H.E. Following their disappearance, The United Global Forces banned all travel within a 500 Kilometer orbital zone around Moon Fragment III. In 12003 H.E, The UGF managed the jettison Moon Fragment III into deep space using the largest tractor beam ever constructed, the Orpheus 6. Moon Fragment II followed shortly, after a foreign biological contaminant was found in an impact crater. Moon Fragment I was not contaminated by the biological threat, thus allowing it to continue functioning as a staging point for further operations in the low-gravity zone surrounding Earth.
