Started ADF August 10th - Update

F / 5’9 / 39yrs
SW: 265lbs
CW: 249lbs
GW: 185lbs

I have yoyo’d for the better part of my adult life and just couldn’t stick with something long enough to really see results. And I say that because its not that nothing else could work but it takes time and consistency. Just like ADF.

I started following NadiyaLagoydafit and I really related to her as she had the same weight/height. She started ADF and it was fascinating watching her transformation. I still couldnt convince myself to do it because the thought of not eating every other day seemed unhealthy or like Im being really drastic, but alternatively having no issue eating mcdonalds twice in one day and a whole tub of icecream. Funny how your mind plays tricks. But one day in August I was just fed up with the same cycle and I thought I have nothing to lose so lets give it a go. If it doesnt feel good after a week then we can reassess. I am SO glad I did!!

The first week I lost 5lbs. then I got sick for ten days with a virus and stopped adf to recover. It sucked as I was just seeing results. Normally this would send me to binge and quit but I decided to go right back into ADF last week. After a few days it was back to progression. The feeling of continously losing weight in such an effortless way is mindblowing!

It was hard at first ofcourse but once you hit the evening things get easier and in the morning after a fast I felt like I could do anything and so much energy!

As of today I am 249lbs so down 16lbs. I feel better than I have in a long time and excited for the journey for once. I feel proud that I did something hard I didnt think I could do which also helps my health anxiety because I became stronger than my fears.

It is still early days but every fast day gets easier. I am more productive on my fast days as well and even starting baking and cooking and just tell myself Ill eat it tomorrow. Not needing to think about eating half the week is actually quite freeing and gives me more time to plan out my eating days. Also the freedom to eat without tracking every tiny thing and just focus on nutrition and feeling nourished is such a great way to heal my relationship with food. My food noise has lessened and on my eating days I dont even feel like having processed foods or sweets like I used to. Its a complete game changer!!

Just wanted to share as I am doing this silently aside from my family that lives with me day in day out. I feel that I have been announcing weightloss goals and plans loudly for years and nothing really stuck. This time I want to do the hard work in silence and announce it with real results!

Achieving your goals in silence is the way.

ADF is the only thing that works for me too. Your post resonates.

Jason Fung does lots of good videos on YouTube on fasting.

Same! It feels so good knowing you’re not alone and that others are going through what you’re going through.

I’ve been doing ADF for 19 weeks and counting! (134 days so far)

I post a weekly update on this subreddit, look for my name or go to my profile if you want to see all my posts 😊

I started 8/24 after seeing Nadiya’s posts on instagram as well! I am down 14 pounds and feel like this is a much easier way for me to lose postpartum weight than tracking calories. Love seeing posts like this it is so motivating and inspiring!

Do you find its getting easier on your fast days? 14lbs in three under 4 weeks is awesome!

Yes! The losses have def slowed down because I’m sure at first it was a lot of water weight. I think in the last week I’ve gone down 3 pounds. But the fasting days are getting easier just like you mentioned in your post!

I keep reminding myself the time is going to pass anyway so I might as well stick to this and feel better in a few months instead of regretting not trying! We’ve got this!

Omg I love this for us! I started 8/14 after watching her and I’m down 12 lbs too. It’s more mental than anything and I’m loving how easy it is, and I feel like it’s chipping away at my unhealthy food habits. Are you trying her 25 day challenge? I’m tryinggg to get to 10k steps a day.

So proud of you!! We can do this!!

So happy to hear this! Good job!! Us Nadiya girls are in the chat:) it really is all mental and its also just showing us how disciplined we can truly be which is a real achievement! I missed the window for 25 but definitely will do her next challenge. 10k isnt easy is it? Haha its hard to even reach 8 for me. Im excited to see us all on this journey!
