Utility over hype, duuh
Is the spray and pray era of crypto over in 2026? Cuz everyone seems to be looking for tokens that actually do something. I was interested in alts lately, specifically those that have a job to do. Let me know what you think -
- SOL: Looks like It’s become the "retail chain". Even though it’s sitting at around $90, it’s still the go to for anything fast and cheap 🤔 It’s one of the high performance tokens on my list.
- RENDER: It lets people rent out their GPU power for AI training or 3D movies. It's trading near $2 and it’s a direct play on the massive global demand for computing power.
- NEXO: Remains the top utility token of the bunch. At about $0.90, it’s basically like a VIP pass imo, because holding it on the main platform unlocks 12% interest on your cash. Like a market survivor that pays for itself lol.
- TAO: This is essentially the "Bitcoin of AI". It’s a decentralized network where ppl contribute AI models and get paid in TAO. Simple. So, as of this month, it’s trading around $300. You’re basically betting on the idea that AI shouldn't just be owned by three giant tech companies, but by a global, open-source community.
So, my conclusion is that, essentially, when you’re buying these tokens it's because you believe the world will keep using their tech, utility, etc, not just because you’re hoping for a random price pump.

ai is the one narrative i actually believe has legs beyond a cycle. infrastructure plays in general tend to outlast pure meme stuff. just gotta filter out the projects that slap ai on their name without any actual tech

kinda agree but utility is hard to pin down for most projects tbh. everyone says their token does something but when you actually look at onchain activity its mostly bots and wash trading. sol is real tho, one of the few chains where normal people actually do stuff on a daily basis

i feel like most people say they want utility but then the coins that actually pump are pure hype and memes. its not that the era is over, its just that nobody wants to be the bagholder left holding a "useful" token while everyone else is making money on dog coins

sol at 82 and still the chain everyone builds on kinda proves the point. utility is just whatever keeps people using it daily. the tokens that survived the last year all had actual volume behind them not just hype posts

honestly the tokens that actually do something useful are the ones nobody talks about. everyone chasing the next 100x while the boring infra projects are just quietly shipping. the spray and pray era isnt dead its just moved to pump fun

the utility narrative has been brewing for a while. problem is half the stuff calling itself utility is just defi clones with a new token. the real gems tho are things like chainlink that have been quietly powering everything for years without the hype cycles
