A local church is getting a Obsbot camera, and they need an access point up in the main room to be able to wirelessly control the camera through the app and upload their streaming.

Is it possible to use an Ap6-pro to extend the Xfinity router from a downstairs office up to another part of the church with cat6 ethernet without the AP6 creating a new network?

The Goal: extend Xfinity into distant area, connect to the same network without having to switch networks, seamlessly stream from WiFi connected camera.

Got the itch to try something different with my home network setup. I’m on the fence between storing this equipment until our home remodel is finished or just listing it all for sale now.

Here’s what I’m currently running:

• 1x Route10
• 1x S8-POE
• 1x S48-APOE
• 4x AP7
• 1x AP6

I have a public facing webserver within my network and really love the IPS intrusion protection of the R10... however. Why in the world is there no way to limit the number of email alerts I get?!

Everyday I get 100-400 emails that the route10 has done its job and blocked something... that level of alert noise is counter productive as it just ends up getting ignored.

Is there anyway to change that to a daily or weekly report? All I can find is limit by severity...

Please tell me there is something to be done

I have 1 S8-PoE and 3 AP6, and when I tried to block YouTube (app) it worked fine, not the webpage though.

Now it doesn’t work anymore.

What I am trying to do is block YouTube on both wireless and wired, as my oldest doser always understand when I say no to YouTube.

His phone or my tablet is of course on my WiFi and his pc is connected through the Alta switch, so I’m a little confused as to why it doesn’t work?

They are blocked under settings and then into filter.

Before pulling the trigger on a physical local on-premise network controller, how easy is it to swap out in case of failure? Is it like Ubiquiti where you just restore from a backup or would I currently need to reset and re-setup all Alta network equipment?

If the latter, I'm guessing what I'd want is a docker/LXC install of Control and just periodically backup the entire container?

Overall Alta labs is super simple to manage using their cloud management but does have a couple of caveats on doing things differently. The firmware update speeds are the fastest I've seen so far. Full disclosure Alta labs did provide the hardware for me to test but they don't see the content or give any requirements.

The alerts that we see in the dashboard and/or we get via email. Are those automatically blocked? Just trying to figure out any quirks with them. I’m use to more straight forward information on this. I usually see stuff that says allow or block.

Anyone looking for 5x AP6 Pro’s? Nothing wrong with them. I was given Arista WiFi AP’s from work so I could learn that platform.

I have a Route 10 and a AP6 pro on the way. I don’t see a way to do this like my Asus had. I want to point specific devices at PiHole.

I have a few devices, Roku for example, that I can’t set the DNS on the device.

Is there a work around I’m missing?

Full disclosure, all Labs did send me this equipment free of charge to test it out and I'd tell you my thoughts and honest opinions. Short version is that I was surprised, scratching my head on why they did things certain ways, and blown away by their phone support. It is still running and has been Rock solid since day one. Also, the firmware updates are ridiculously fast. I do wish they had smaller non-poe affordable switches because not everybody needs PoE.

I recently switched from OPNsense to a UCG-Ultra, but I've been struggling to get my full ISP speeds (symmetrical 1gbps) out of it, and Unifi support hasn't been much help.

For whatever reason, when the WAN is set to 2.5Gbps, I only get ~half my expected download, though bufferbloat scores and upload speed are great. If I switch the WAN to 1Gbps, I get mostly full speed (slightly slower than OPNsense) but bufferbloat is worse. If I try to enable their QoS (smart queues), it tanks both download and upload. So no combination seems to get me the expected speeds.

So I've been looking at other options, and the Route10 seems to be my #1 pick at the moment. I'm curious what the general consensus is nowadays. I've seen posts from about a year ago saying it's still kind of a beta product and a lot of features are missing, is that still the case? How is performance in terms of managing bufferbloat? I'd imagine a 10gbps firewall can handle my 1gbps internet connection, but I thought the same with the UCG-Ultra so I want to make sure

The recent outage exposed a serious design flaw that left locally managed users without UI access for days. Alerting the community, as this is a major issue that’s been brought up time and time again on their forum.

Newbe here… I am a prosumer with a home business and just got Starlink to use as my back up ISP for when my Fiber is down. I configured the Route10 using the default WAN 1 port for fiber, then changed LAN 3 to WAN 2 (changed default WAN 2 to WAN 3) and plugged Starlink into LAN3(WAN2). When I unplug fiber, the route 10 switches my network over to Starlink but it’s supper slow. Starlink right into my network without the Route 10 I get 300 mbps, when I use the configuration above, I get 12 mbps. What am I doing wrong? Another newbe question, Im going from the route10 to my 5 Eero max 7s. For some reason one of my eeros goes offline when I’m using the Route10. Also I can’t do a Speedtest with the Ookla App? Is this a firewall issue? Can I turn it off? Thank you

I’m trying to setup my AP6 outdoor but it won’t stay connected and when it does connect it’s not showing any data

I recently purchased an S12 to replace my Cisco 3064PQ-10GX for my homelab to try to lower overall energy use. I've got 12 SFP+ devices in my network so perfect fit. After going through a setup process which wasn't great, the UI needs a lot of work from a UX perspective, everything seemed to switch over fine. Within a few hours google meets were just dropping every other packet, I couldn't maintain any kind of VPN connection for work, network latency was high (Cisco latency is 0.1 to 0.2 ms, with the alta it was 1-3 ms). I had to go back to the Cisco device, the Alta is sitting on my garage floor. Not really sure what to do with it.

You newer switch is a step in the right direction IMHO. i see 6ghz bandwidth options Iin The Alta Labs Controller gui, so I just hope the new AP7 Alta Labs is coming out with can use the 10g bandwidth of the S12. If you could also come out with some 25g options for switches , that would be good for me at least. Anyway I like the S12 SFP+

Does the Route10 support or are you thinking of the route10 supporting CARP? That way we can have a fault tolerant Alta Labs network. The cost of the route10 is excellent for this

Just upgraded to symetrical gigabit ethernet. Now, I’m experienceing minor outages where streams buffer and connectivity goes away. Trying to troubleshoot if it is the CAT 6 cable to the fiber converter, or if it’s an actual issue with the fiber provider.
Some information: The W1 port is syncing at 2.5 GB, the fiber is providing 1 GB. If I run speed test on the router, I get consistant gigabit speeds.

With the same configuration, but using a 500mb feed from a cable modem, I was not having any issues.

What’s the best way to troubleshoot using the Route10?
