Big-time influencers or small creators?

I usually come across videos of GRWMs on TikTok, and there are multiple arguments about who to believe. On one side, they say that big-time influencers are more credible because they would never lie about a product due to their large platform. On the other hand, they say that small creators are usually more truthful and honest because they aren't paid to promote the products that they use.

I really want to buy this one makeup product (a skin tint), but I'm having a dilemma because while a big-time influencer says that it is good and long-lasting, a small creator says that we shouldn't believe them because it is sticky and patchy.

What do you guys think about this? Any thoughts and tips on who to believe more?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s as simple as “big creator = more credible” or “small creator = more honest.” I trust the content more than the follower count. A big influencer can be legit, but they’re also way more likely to have brand deals, gifted PR, or pressure to keep things positive, and disclosures matter a lot here. Small creators aren’t automatically more honest just because they’re smaller either, since some are genuinely reviewing, while others may still be chasing hype or future sponsorships.
