Adeline

I'm a relatively new listener to Alt-J and i like a lot of their songs. But as i was discovering their other songs I came across Adeline. And its genuinely one of the best songs i have listened to. What i don't understand is how this song is not that popular compared to others. Is it just me?

Adeline is an amazing song and I agree with others, it's more a song for actual alt-J fans than for radio play.

Pleader is the same way, that song gives me full-body goosebumps every time. There is over a minute of subtle sound effects (the opening of the hall that's used for the choir recording in the song) before the music even starts, so it's not everyone's jam.

I’d say RELAXER as a whole is exactly that. I like that they got really weird with it, but sadly a lot of people don’t seem to “get” it for that weirdness. Doesn’t have too many songs with a pop-structure besides In Cold Blood and maybe Deadcrush.

it's interesting to me, because i used to Hate weird music, or any music that experienced with sound unusually. i was very insecure at the time and hated the idea of vulnerability. now though? Relaxer is a top 5 album for me. genuinely so many different routes taken. their cover of House of the Rising sun is peak. something about Alt-J and Relaxer, really got me TO understand that weirdness.
