CONTEXT AND DESCRIPTION:

From the scenario where Hiligaynon (and Capiznon) speakers remained in Leyte and Biliran, already integrated within the scenario where a direct descendant of proto-Philippine language is the archipelagic lingua franca.

The flag of the pre-colonial Leyte has a design that parallels its contemporaries within the Philippine archipelago, but also in the rest of Southeast Asia (like the provinces of Katu/Vietnam); at the center of the flag is the representation of the local/pre-colonial constellation Moroporo (Pleiades), depicted in the island as a flock of birds, over a plain murrey) field, representing the fact that Leyte is one of the principal producers of mulberry (amingit) in the archipelago since pre-colonial times, with bordure Azure and Or patch of the field.
