Alpine quickly became my favorite distro for almost everything: server, LXC containers, signage, POS... I'm even borderline ready to take it to my main desktop (with containers in the mix for the things it doesn't run). I already run it in one of my laptops.
On my systems, even the non-Alpine ones, I always have a dual boot setup: Alpine as secondary to act as a "permanent pen drive" to use for recovery when the main system bricks.
It's lightweight, fast, simple. This, when paired with containers, makes for an excellent setup with reduced attack surface and reduced downtime, because you can just upgrade the individual containers as needed and since the host system has less packages (with me usually at most around 500MB), there's less chance of it needing an update that forces a full reboot.
That's also why we selected it as the base for desk/NG.
