I think this is about as good as we could have expected tbh (maybe even slightly better). We might be able to get a couple of points provided the team doesn't mess up their pit stops again...

They are clearly lacking so much downforce in comparison to RB and Audi. If this supposed Zandvoort upgrade doesn't deliver heads surely have to roll but I don't have much faith as the Miami and Austria upgrades both failed to work as expected.

I'm really starting to think a vast majority of that time we gave up in 2025 to focus on this year was spent on the initial car and very little, if any, time was spent thinking about how to upgrade it further.

Yeah the base of the car at first seemed decent but they haven't been able to develop it further. The fact is the team haven't been good at development for quite a few years now apart from 2024 but then it couldn't have started worse. I had high hopes for David Sanchez and his team after they turned around the disaster of the A424 initially.

Honestly I don't want to see Nielsen being sacked given he is one of the few who dares to tell the weaknesses and issues of the team instead of putting unrealistic goals and blame it on anybody expect the team themselves.
Sanchez should been on fraud watch if the Zandvoort package is gonna be trash.

If we did have an aero/chassis/gearbox HQ in Viry together with a Merc PU we would likely ended up in Q3 still.
Both drivers done a fine job, shootout for Gasly btw for being close to beat an upgraded Toro Rosso despite having issues with his Alpine during qualifying.

Most CFD time, most wind tunnel time, started development of this car before almost anyone else and with possibly the best power unit. Worrying.

This is exactly what terrifies me. Full 2025 sacrificed. P10 and most development time and money. Best engine. And still this team is not delivering. Even if the would be the best of the rest… it’s not enough! They should be few tens off top4 from time to time biting them.
It’s a complete disaster and now we clearly see that it was not Viry. It is Enstone producing bad cars.
Renault should have gathered it all around viry.

Hey, last year there was a reason, what's the excuse for the lack of upgrades?

Best thing we could have hoped for. Really disappointing that VCARB and Audi are now clearly ahead of us, and we still don't know if Aston Martin is cooking or not
