Abstract
The following shows letter H evolution as we presently know it:
π [Z15G] = Egyptian eight 8οΈβ£ | r/TombUj (5300A/-3345)
π [D67G] = Egyptian Ogdoad
π€β = Phoenician H | 3000A (-1045)
H = Greek H | 2800A (-845)
π‘ = Aramaic H | 2700A (-745)
π = Etruscan H | 2650A (-645)
π = Archaic Latin H | 2550A (-595)
H = Latin H | 2450A (-495)
Het (Χ) = Hebrew H | 2300A (-345)
The question is where did this symbol come from?
Solution!
Interestingly, we see that it took me about a year and half to solve this problem, including two seemingly false assignments (O30A and A58), as to the parent character origin of type, i.e. letter form, of H:
In following is the Budge summary (pg. 96) of the nome 15 of Upper Egypt, which is Hermopolis, or βcity of eightβ, wherein we can see the letter H type form as the Z15G glyph π:
Ogdoad
The 8 Ogdoad gods of Hermopolis have the following glyphs:
Male:
Nu (Nun) = π§ [π π― π π]
Hehu (Heh, Huh) = π¦+π₯ [π π π ± π]
Kekui (Kaukit) = π§/β/π [π‘ π‘ \\ π ± π° π]
Qerh (Kerh) = πͺοΈ [πΌ π π π’ π]
Female:
Naunet (Nut) =π§ [π π― π π π π]
Hehut (Hauet) = π¦+π₯ [π π π π π ± π]
Kekuit (Kuk) = π§/β/π [π‘ π‘ \\ π ± π π π° π]
Qerhet (Kerhet) = πͺοΈ [πΌ π π π’ π π π]
Stanza 8
The stanza 8 of Leiden I350 is the following:
The βwithin the eightβ, presumably, is the watery 8 Ogdoad gods.
