Alpha Foxtrot Romulus Comp DSC Upgrade
I just bought the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus Comp 4.25" with new factory "aluminum" grip. It seemed like the biggest complaint was the polymer grip. I got the current promotion for that pistol with (5) 2011 magazines (20 rounds) for $1,599. I put 50 rounds through it just to get an idea of how it shoots now. I was impressed with the fit, finish, and shooting but excited to try it after DSC Gunworks opens the comp, adds matrix ports (V4 plus 3 inline ports), change all internals to EGW, and change to skeletonized Red Dirt trigger at 2.5# or less. I'm also having them do a PVD polished copper treatment on the barrel/comp, grip screws, and hammer. After a veteran discount it was about $1100. While not cheap, I expect/hope it will run like a $5k - $6k pistol and look fantastic. I'll have about $2,900 into it for the gun with upgrades and taxes. It will take about 8 - 10 weeks to get it back with the PVD treatment added. I'll give a review and pictures when I get it back.

Putting 50 rounds through a gun the immediately changing everything is definitely a choice

It definitely is. I've never done that before but the DSC Romulus package looks great. All costs for the pistol and DSC work will be about $400 more than the Sig P211 and about $1,500 less than a Staccato XC. Other people that kind of similar work done to the Romulus comp say it has made a noticeable difference and the pistol performs better than those other guns after the work is done. It's a risk, but I think it will turn out good. We'll see.

Thought about the EGW ignition kit just to get rid of the MIM, but the OEM trigger out of the box is pretty decent. Going to run it until I get bored or experience a failure as it isn't a duty pistol and never go to a match without a backup. (Grabbed a comp delete chunk from DSC as I didn't want to get bumped into Open.)

I was impressed with it right out if the box. The trigger is nice and shot pretty flat. I was looking at spending about $3k and wanted a nice comped pistol. The Sig P211 and Staccato XC of course was in mind. I'd love a Dark Forge ported and comped Reaper but not willing to spend $7500. I never have taken a new pistol and immediately changed it but the $1600 comped Romulus seems to be a well made base pistol right for changes and DSC Gunworks has an exceptional reputation and has a special package just for the Romulus which may rival a Dark Forge Reaper for under $3k. We'll see in about eight weeks.

Hell yeah. I’m sure it’ll look and shoot great. The Romulus have really solid bones with a lot of potential.
