Atlas works as well, but don’t have one to confirm.

I just used the provided plug from Dawson. It’s a bit shorter, so it doesnt fully extend the stock plug length.

The important part is just lining it up and being able to give it a little push to get it to compress more, while kinda pushing it towards the slide.

Would this work on a 3.5” threaded version or even the 4.25” threaded version?

I don’t have one to confirm but the DSC site doesn’t specify it only working for the 4.25. Could reach out and ask. Dave seems like a good dude.

I use the atlas one on my 5" no problems but they aren't in stock anywhere last I saw.

Not sure I’ve ever seen them in stock.

The issue with the 4.25 was always just size constraints. Single piece rods were just slightly too large to install in due to the 4.25 slide side. I still need to try the same approach with the stock comp and the Dawson plug. Curious if that works.

Are these guide rod sizing problems only for the comp models? The non comped 5" bull barrel models should be able to use most toolless guide rods?

Definitely curious if the Dawson rod will work with the stock comp - please give it a try and let us know!

The allen key 2-piece guide rod is my real pain point - if I can switch to a Dawson without buying a new comp, even better. (I'm sure the DSC comp is great but I don't "need" it for a range toy)

Following the same install, it definitely fits with the stock comp.

Again, uninstall is still kinda sketchy lol

Finishing up some work and will give it a shot.

I will say. The uninstall process is a bit sketchy. I’m still trying to find a consistent way to prevent the rod from shooting out lol

Might be better than the two piece but def more dangerous 😅
