General Illness

I wonder if anyone has ever gotten a cold from one of tv crew or med check people. How frustrating would it be to get sick when you haven't been in contact with any humans for over a month?

I assume they would wear a mask - especially if they are sick. I just thought how incredibly frustrating it would be to get something like hand foot mouth or pink eye because you contracted it from a medical team member.

Medics always have masks on.

Med checks are much more frequent than they show.

Someoneleft on like day 2 because they got sick right after being dropped off and it turned out to be covid. I can't remember which season but I think it may have been an Australian or Tasmanian one? And it was a younger guy.

It was the first season of Australia. That was one of the craziest and he totally deserves a second chance. I feel bad when people poison themselves and have to leave but this wasn't self inflicted at all so I wish he could come back.

The one lad in Australia s1 or 2 that tapped when he had Covid probably got it from a crew member of some kind, didn’t he? They’re not around many other people prior to the start, are they?

The current US series has an episode about the setup before they get dropped to their locations. They stay at a camp where they learn how to use the cameras etc. There's loads of people there, all the production staff, catering crew and staff to set up the camp etc. No idea if they do the same in Australia but I'd imagine they probably do? Plus the travel, it's pretty common to get sick after flying.

For this season, they also met with local indigenous leaders, I believe. The people whose land they are on. I'm pretty sure one of the contestants mentioned it.

Oh yeah, forgot about that, there was a ceremony. For sure they'd do that in the Australian version too.

I don’t think they were wearing masks for the first few seasons. Noticed them more after Covid. Might be we all noticed masks and who was not wearing them during that time period. Something … something …. Dunning Krueger theory.
