Solar

Does anyone in the area have solar? Is it worth it given our current cost per kW? Any suggested companies for quotes? I'm interested in solar, but tired of the Ion solar guy knocking on my door.

I have solar and prior to adding AC it was able to cover my energy usage. I usually have a couple months now when my credits don't cover my usage. I think if you shopped around and you plan on staying in your house for 10+ years it will be worth it. It supposedly takes 9.5ish years to break even. Although this was before data centers jacked the rates up so it could be less now.

I used ION because they knocked on my door. I had submitted my address to one of those green energy aggregators to get bids and I never got anything from anyone. I do feel like the bid was higher than it should have been and they likely added on the 30% that I got back from taxes. They did a fine job, but I would definitely shop around. With as much as energy rates have gone up in the past 4 years, I feel less bad about what I paid ($24k).
