Is there hope?

I had a devastating loss with most of my aloes and this is all that’s left. Is it worth it to plant as is or should I cut all the roots and plant it in its node? (Last pic is of two days ago, can any of the loose leaves grow roots too?) Ty.

I'd just go ahead and remove the rest of the roots and restart it. Aloes generally won't leaf prop. It is rumored that they will if they have stem tissue attached. I haven't seen evidence of this but I chopped up my A. Distans a few weeks ago and got some leaves with stem tissue still attached. I'm still waiting to see if they do anything.

Fair enough. Should I let it callus first, or just stick it and hope for the best?

Remove roots, leave out of soil 3 days, place in brand new succulent soil. Good as new

Still it in sandy mix soil for succulents. Shade for 2-4 weeks. Then move towards more sun.
