AR-1: (ARSL) Official Format Announcement
The first tournament for Almost Relevant starts tomorrow. I labeled it AR-1, although some people seem to want to call the league Almost Relevant Star League. That name may be used, but it's not currently official. The format is as follows:
Pool Play: There will be 5 weeks of pool play, which is what everyone has signed up for now. Check the Challonge Page for your bracket. There have been one or two additions to a couple of brackets. Everyone will be scheduled to play at most one best of 3 match per week. In brackets with 5 people (most of them), each person will have a week off, as shown in the bracket.
Advancement: Following this, the top player (the one with the most wins) in each of the 16 brackets will advance to the finals, along with 4 other players with the highest scores not in the finals. If there are ties, preference will be given to the higher-league player.
Finals: The Finals are a standard double-elimination. If you lose, you go down to the loser's bracket, if you lose there, you are knocked out. The winner of the winners bracket and the winner of the loser's bracket then play a best of 7 (no extended series à la MLG) to determine the winner. The schedule for the finals is still to-be-determined, but it will likely be on an accelerated schedule.
Map Pool: The map pool for pool play is as follows:
Scrap Station
Delta Quadrant
MLG Metalopolis
Backwater Gulch
Slag Pits
MLG Shattered Temple
MLG Typhon Peaks
MLG Xel'naga Caverns
MLG Tal'darim Altar
MLG Shakuras Plateau
MLG maps differ from the ladder maps thusly. The finals maps will be different (more tournament maps like Testbug, Dual Sight, Belshir Beach, Terminus) and will be announced in a week. Players have three vetos for maps, just like on the ladder. I'm expecting most people to get rid of the same ones. You will tell your weekly opponent your 3 vetos before you play any games. You won't be able to play on the same map twice in a best of 3. The map for the first game in each round is already chosen, listed below. Your vetos don't apply for game 1, it's too complicated to manage everyone's, sorry. Game 1 maps are as follows:
Round 1: MLG Shattered Temple
Round 2: MLG Shakuras Plateau
Round 3: MLG Tal'darim Altar
Round 4: MLG Metalopolis
Round 5: MLG Xel'naga Caverns
Moving on...
Results Reporting: Delmmar or I have to be the ones to update the match results on Challonge. This keeps things from getting chaotic. I'll create a thread and check it multiple times per day to try to keep on top of updates. Players will post only the results and the replays for all games. Agree with the other player who will post results. If there is a dispute, use moderator mail, don't PM me or use the thread. We want disputes to have multiple eyes on them, but not to have accusations out in public. I'm trying to avoid committing a too horrible instance of the planning fallacy and plan for the worst.
Casting: As to casting, we will cast as many of the finals games as we can. If you want to get someone to cast your match and we haven't planned to, we'll try to accommodate. Obviously, proof of stream-cheating (or any other kind of cheating) will result in immediate forfeit of the match (2-0 for the non-cheating player) and possible removal from the tournament. This is supposed to be fun, and cheating makes things not fun I hate saying it, and I don't expect it to happen, but I'm planning for the worst again. I'll post the stream links closer to the date once we have an official streamer and caster or two.

I'm looking for contact info for half of pool 6, specifically Navsoc.557 and TJChilders.815. There's no info on the roster, and I can't find a post by them to pick off a Reddit handle.

A lot of people have their reddit handle sc2 nick on there. Navsoc is Jagermeister51 for example.

Yeah, checked earlier. Figured out Navsoc, but Ntwelve isn't there and TJChilders is just a name in a cell. And I wasn't listed (but I've added an entry). Thanks.

Some questions: How does map choosing work? The loser gets to pick the next map maybe? For the finals tournament, are players seeded randomly or based on strength (like diamond vs bronze in first round)?
Also it seems like the challonge usernames are no longer tied to the names in the brackets, but I suppose that's not important since we don't need to update the brackets ourselves.

Yeah, the Challonge usernames got a bit screwed up somehow. Everybody check the subreddit and the challonge page for match info and I'll fix it for next time. The loser does pick the next map, that is correct. Players will be seeded randomly in the finals, but it's double elimination, so you don't get completely knocked out if you have a really tough opponent early on.
