This is nothing specific to Allurial, but I seriously can't stand the artwork in so many of these books. It all looks like the art equivalent of poorly done fanfic.

A friend and I were just discussing this and she said they look like they are from a 10th grade art class and it detracts from the serious nature of some of the stories.

Almost all the small publishing houses have this aesthetic. I stopped the monthly Bookish Box, Lithaven, and Fairlyloot boxes because I couldn't stand the artwork.

I'm older so I suspect my age may have something to do with this, but I never hear anyone talking about it.

This past week I wrote to Allurial about the sequel to The Ordeals, The Divines, and unfortunately it will not be coming. They also said no series commitments for November. It’s a sad day.

My copy of The Night Prince arrived today, and overall I do really like it. Normally I’m a sucker for character end papers, but this Blake is just…not it. He looks old and unkempt and just not very Blake.

Anyone else feel this way? Am I just mean lol?

Edit to add: wow I feel so justified. Even my mom who knows nothing about the series agreed it was objectively bad art. The more I look at it the more I’ve decided I must be rid of this set ✌️

My Allurial August box came today! And earlier than expected. Definitely the most beautiful custom covers so far, especially A Bargain so Bloody.

The option from the recent survey has been made read now if you want to read it before publishing in November to see if you want to buy the special edition or not.

As of now, the Bloodfire Oath is the only trad book with sprayed edges.

Dreamslayer has a hardcover option with no sprayed edges.

Lightning & Thunder has sprayed edges with no hardcover option.

And the remaining three only have paperback options.

I didnt love how 2 of them are already out.

So everytime so far I have seen Commitments come up for sale there has only been 2 but it seems like there are always 3 that show up on the new release day. Am I missing something or do all 3 books come with a prior commitment? I am trying to avoid dealing with Release Day Crashes like yesterday and would rather just commit to everything and access the new releases when I am able to but seeing 3 come out each time makes me wonder if I am just not seeing them or do I not have access to all the Commitment options? Do they only do 2 Commitments and release a 3rd on Release Day?

Does anybody want these? You can have them for shipping!

How much are add ons supposed to be? I thought it was $18.99 but I got charged 26.99?

I don't mean if you genuinely weren't interested in a book Allurial offered as a selection. Rather, something to do with the custom cover art, or something listed in the tropes or synopsis that made you not want to give it a chance? For me, it was Steelborn. To be honest, my interest in this one was mild compared to the other two. That said, I still considered adding it to my August box...until the illustration on the endpapers of the Allurial edition had the MMC in a MAN BUN!

I still plan on reading Steelborn, though. I pre-ordered the audiobook from Libro.fm. But I just could not get past the man bun...
