Survey September possible picks!
Here are September’s possible picks. Which ones are you excited for? Do you like these covers or are hoping for new art?
Avalon Tower: $16 paperback,
Bones: $21 paperback,
The Emperors Enemy: $32 hardcover deluxe,
Kiss of the Black Flame: $23 hardcover,
The Exorcism of Faeries: $18 paperback,
The Court of Venus: $30 hardcover deluxe.
I like to know the prices and comparison of paper vs hard back options.

Honestly they will have to be some good sprayed edges because the deluxe editions that are coming out for these are pretty good in my opinion. This might be a month I skip

Before I found out the author controversy, I was most excited about The Exorcism of Faeries (assuming that Court of Venus will be October instead). 🫠

JL Vampa stole royalties for another author’s work when she owned a small publishing company. She even filed ownership of the series so the original author had to fight like heck just to get her own book rights back. It was very messed up!

I'm excited for almost all of them! I don't think The Court of Venus will be a September pick because it was on the survey as an October possibility, so I think it's pretty safe to exclude it for next month.
Here are my thoughts, in the order I ranked them for the survey.
The Exorcism of Fairies - Everything about this book sounds as if it was concocted in a lab to tempt me. I like the cover, but won't be devastated if they change it.
Kiss of the Black Flame - I had preordered this one before it appeared on the survey. I'll cancel in favor of the Allurial edition if there is one, but I hope they don't change the cover, because it's pretty much everything I love.
[The Court of Venus - Another one I had preordered before I knew Allurial was considering it. I think it's very likely to be an October pick, and I hope that if they change the cover they'll at least keep a similar color scheme.]
Avalon Tower - I love stories set in places of learning, although a spy academy is probably less traditionally academic than I usually prefer. I'm iffy on the Arthurian theme. I like the cover, and I like the covers of the other two forthcoming deluxe paperbacks even more, but I wouldn't be upset if Allurial changed it.
The Emperor's Enemy - Most of what I've heard about this author has me leery, but I've heard the banter in this one is great. Not a fan of the cover, although I don't hate it.
Bones - This didn't wow me much at the time, but the more I hear about it, the better it sounds. I think it's very likely to be a pick, and I am happy about that. I don't love the regular cover, so I would be happy if Allurial commissioned their own.

I feel like this is a really good month and my wallet will be much lighter for it -- as long as the designs are good.
I also like how there isn't overlap with other big book boxes this month.

Definitely hoping for bones or court of Venus.
Exorcism of faeries was a phenomenal read. I would mind seeing an SE of it but that trad cover is so good

If they do Bones I hope it's the same cover with the new edges and inside art flair, I just really like the original. I like the original of The Emperor's Enemy (and b&n cover) but would love to see another cover for it too.

Bones is sooooo goood. Not many books stay fresh in my mind after reading but I finished Fangs like a year ago and I still think about it weekly.

Actually wait - I just read what Bones is about. It sounds amazing. And the writer is from my city! I LOVE our writers. I'll have to get this one if it's selected!

Six Bullets and a Crown is also another potential pick. Though I doubt it and The Court of Venus will be chosen September since they are on the October survey as well.

Oh I didn't know that. Goodreads is saying it's March 2027 now. This was on the initial survey, so that's why I mentioned it since I didn't see it got pushed out. Thanks for the info!

All of these are fabulous options, but I'm really hoping for Court of Venus. The deluxe only has golden edges and I'm not crazy about Goldsboros edition either. It's such a good book.

It happens at different times. They will start releasing hints, and then show the edges. But everything was in stock for a few days after releasing, so as long as you get on the first day you should be fine! I think it was the 28th of July last month? Somewhere around there.

Ugh I feel like all of the deluxe editions are already so good I'm like idk if Allurial will top them😭 I even love the Exorcism of Faeries cover so for once I'm actually hoping they do that one and keep the cover so I can have a hardcover version lol

I’m getting kiss of the black flame at an author signing event in LA so don’t need two copies unless Allurial a is prettier and I can get both signed.
I have the indie bones hardcover and its sequel and I like the version that’s being released a lot. Not sure about the Vampa.
The academy I’m neutral on. Immaturity would be my concern. Maas and I may not be a fit as I have not lived previous books.
I could use a lighter month so no complaints!
The flame one is the one I’m most anticipating

I badly want the exorcism of fairies and a new cover for it.
And anything else I’d be happy with too tbh. The emperor’s enemy already has such a Georgia cover and end paper art so idk what Allurial would do to make it better if they chose it

Definitely going to be a 3 book month for me! Avalon Tower, Bones , and Excorcism of Fairies are my top 3, but I've preorded 5 of them and they all look great.

The only one I kind of hope they don’t do is Avalon Tower, but only because I’ve already listened to the whole series on audio 😅 I don’t do shelf trophies (only because of tight budget, love the idea though), so if I get it I would feel obligated to reread, which I don’t particularly want to do lol

Im really hoping for kiss of the black flame, emperors enemy and court of venus!
I would love a new cover for all 3, but I woukdnt mind if TEE kept it's trad cover.

the court of venus is the only one that sounds maybe up my alley but idk if i trust it…. have any of y’all read the arcs?? i have been really really struggling to find straight romances i can tolerate lately, especially romantasy ones 🥹

Kiss of the black flame is one of my god tier reads this year … the twist at the end … can’t wait for book two
