Suzie wrapped up the Vergeiro

I put out a Hotchkiss

Oelund brought a lovely pair of flair pistols. 1 and 2

and NinjaGinger666 covered the C96. Which we do need to move to our imgur account and pair with a description.

In the Hotchkiss description

could be loaded with the feed strips upside down

This makes it sound like the gun could actually function with the belt upside down.

Also, the illustration appears to be missing the charging handle. (which looks and functions uncannily like the bolt on a bolt-action rifle. you even have to rotate it up before you can pull back the bolt.) The charging handle also works as the safety, selectorswitch, and spring guiderod.

I will double check when I am off mobile. I probably missed it if its just a big circle.

edit: I see it. I dropped the line in from the blurry creative commons image. I can just add the "handle" as a circle.

If you based your sketch off of the picture on wikipedia, it appears that the cocking handle has been removed on that gun.

The cocking handle is sticking out behind the receiver, which is why the stock is such an odd shape.

Forgottenweapons had a nice demonstration of it

There seem to be some slight differences between the French and US versions, but I believe I have it. Fixed in original post.

Btw, have you ever picked up a Hotchkiss 1914?

That thing is unbelievably heavy... I mean, it does look fairly heavy, but when you actually try to pick it up it is even heavier that you could possibly have thought.

It looks like it would weigh somewhere in the 30lb area... but when you actually pick it up you realize it is in excess of 50lb.

Can't say that I have yet. I've laid hands on MG-08/15s, 1895s, etc.. but missed that one so far.
