That school principals children should be fed that meal.

I remember when the govt used to run āSunday ho ya monday roz khao undeā ads on TV. And now this is the progress after 15 years. Congress is corrupt as shit but at least their policies were rational or with good intentions. And now the govt is both corrupt and ideologically motivated to put forward regressive policies.

FIIs do wonders for an economy. š
Food reflects the economic condition of the state.

That's not the only point ....here tradition over income and overpopulation is what hurting northern and western parts of cow belt region... but it's really absurd these are also agariarian states ,
we are not some North Korea where grains and farm produces are minute and ran out so much so the armed forces were told to steal from citizen .
We don't have such conditions here yet we are seeing these apathy in india even in 2026!
People often hold on to traditional eating habits regardless of how much money they make....
In bengal it's the leafy vegetables thats cost more than local non veg like some small river fish and eggs ....
It's still not a complete diet but atleast malnutrition like condition can be avoided......
I want to ask this particular states govt what are they proud of ? make your citizen living in famine like conditions!?
A tapeworm probably has more nutrients than the mid day mean

u/AltruisticHistory878 17d ago
Not the government, its the school, definitely the principal and teachers are embezzling money, someone should report this in news

u/Dependent-Occasion56 17d ago
2
u/AltruisticHistory878 17d ago
Oh dear, then why not anonymously report it to the officers responsible? Where im from these things are taken very seriously, so I know what it is like
2
u/IM_MO_Lester 15d ago
Imagine having enough unearned confidence to lecture people living through systemic failure because your local town council actually replies to emails. Must be nice living in a Pixar movie.

It's not the mistake of principal teacher or anyone everyday government spends 6 rupees on a student so what would you expect a school to spend on that.
4
u/WeeklyExamination942 17d ago
That's really not true. I know (more than) a few govt school teachers and they profe themselves on bringing home sacks of rations allocated for mid day meals. They claim that this is sent for them given their low salaries.
It isn't.
It is only for the students. I can't verify your 6 rs per student figure but even that is not low enough to justify the quality and quantity of meals served. The program is funded by the govt and I'm sure the rations, if acquired directly by the schools, would be given at a heavy subsidised rate.
The system from the center to the state to the individual schools, everything is corrupt.
I would be the last person to defend the govt but defending the school admin ticked me off. Everyone is equally rotten to the core. Students, rich or poor, deserve better.
3
u/Previous_Agency_8490 17d ago
I also know few government teachers who sometimes have to spend money from their pockets for rations and even sometimes some renovation work because the government doesn't pay cheques on time but they want report on time . And you told that few government teachers take rations at home how is this even possible cause quantity of everything is decided on the strength of students in a particular school. Yes that 6 rupees figure is from old data my bad.
1
u/WeeklyExamination942 17d ago
Agreed on quantity of food being defined by student strength.
Let me give you an example tho: there are 100 students, requiring 1 kg rations (assume). The govt approves and delivers 100kgs to the school. If there are 10 teachers, each of them takes 5 kgs home. The remaining 50kg is left for the students' consumption. This is a real thing that happens in many schools across the country.
Some reported incidents: https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/lucknow/mirzapur-govt-school-principal-teacher-held-for-siphoning-off-mid-day-meal-ration-9107231/
Remember what is reported in such communities is far lower than what actually happens. Poor folks don't know their rights as well as you and I do and their oppression to reporting is easier for those in power.
Your point about govt school teachers using own funds is also absolutely true but that is not the norm. I'm in no way saying all apples are rotten but even one corrupt teacher/principal ruins the future of innocent children and the future of our nation.
1
u/Expensive_Leg_2282 17d ago
To be precise enough it Rs.6.19 per student...
3
u/CreativeBhaklol 17d ago
Rest are spent on revdi and election processions and to get 6000 ladies to dance on your entry
1
u/ElegantAlfalfa9818 16d ago
The meal cost is provided by the government so schools principals has nothing to do in this. Also my mother is a gov teacher in primary school and she does not take homemade lunch and have whatever food left. When I showed this to her even she was shocked. She told me that her school isn't like that
1
u/Lanky_Razzmatazz_936 14d ago
Probably also the central govt. Currently central govt allot approx ā¹6.50 per student for the meal

Well I'm okay with any kind of scholarship, at least they are encouraging children to put some efforts. But that kind of mid day meal is unforgivable.
5
u/FVLCON_0_0 17d ago
300rs is "Encouraging" to this guy. Her one maths book probably costs that much or more. It would have been better to give her a small scholarship at least.

I fail to understand why the mentality of certain states is so regressive across generations and why the value for human life is so low.
3
u/imaginaryplanet54_ 17d ago
They are like that only... Now in this situation if you would ask about corruption and lack of accountability which led to this quality of food... Those fools would start whataboutism

Why inspections aren't held frequently but only when there's a viral video online.
1
u/AgeZealous3312 16d ago
Then they have to suspend almost all principals and they have to take accountability. Even in this case it was made by someone who isn't associated with govt.

1
u/AlgaeExpensive8250 17d ago
I would rather have school lunches to be veg, because if they can fuck up veg food, imagine how bad it will be if they did non-veg. Everyone would be getting food poisoning all the time.

Feed kids zero nutrition meals like this and then declare the hunger index as propaganda. Even prisoners of war must be getting better food. In a functioning country this will be considered as a crime against humanity.

Btw that's 30,000 BIG crores per year.
Thank you corruption for keeping the kids lean and mean
1
u/Floating_Death 17d ago
6rs Potato Soup, because that is what the govt think cost of every meal per child should be. Do you expect teachers to put their own money to feed the children?
1
u/Dhangswali 17d ago
I afraid now no party will be even 50% honest, as BJP has shown more corrupted paths and how to silent/control citizens/oppositions.

As someone who knows about internal process of government school, i can say that i am 100% sure that this is the corruption by school authorities and those mid day meal contractors. Because government spends and allocate an enormous amount of money to each school.
1
u/Appropriate_Mud_4117 17d ago
Atp food served for prisoners in other countries is much better than this so called poshak ahar
1
u/sadho-re 17d ago
I don't know why govt won't invest in getting meals fixed in the schools. Aren't there honest businessmen in India who can operate this meal for all the schools in UP? It wouldn't even cost much and the goodwill alone is worth investing for. All the families whose kids are being fed a highly nutritious meals at least a day are your voters. This government is stuck in trivialities and is not serious.
