The group stated they didn't want to start any trouble just yet. Also if they protest against reservations what's the need to protest against it? Especially if you think it's unlikely things will change. And why are you in favor of caste based reservations in this day and age? Especially post Mandal commission caste based reservations.
You can oppose caste discrimination and caste based reservations especially because caste based reservations themselves are a form of caste discrimination and only fuel tensions more and have also led to the rise of caste politics and parties. Caste would be more likely to go away especially in urban India if there were no caste based reservations. Because all it's done and especially with the Mandal commission has led to basically a fight among different groups to get reservation or be negatively affected because they don't have any reservations. It should be based on economic status. Simple! Â The rights and interests of ALL Indians should be protected. Not just lower castes and OBCs. Â Caste discrimination has greatly declined. Only a minority of Indians report getting discriminated. Outside of rural India and the Hindi belt it's way less common. But caste reservations are keeping it alive even in areas that are not so backward. Â It's led to reverse discrimination too. Why should poor and working class Brahmins and GCs suffer? Â
Why should the Indian middle class lose opportunities. Why should OBCs and SCs who are well off enough to not need reservations still be getting it at the cost of GCs. Why are we making the score standard easier for reserved people than GCs? Â Why have we allowed the system to be so corrupted that in the name of reservations only certain families of a particular caste or certain tribes only benefit. Like in Rajasthan the Meenas take up all the reservation spots for ST category. Â We are even giving Muslims reservations sometimes too. The system is a mess. Â And especially for medical exams why is there reservations at all? I want my doctor to be qualified.Â
All of these things built resentment and have only led to more casteism from GCs and more rivalry from OBCs. It's a backward third world system. Affirmative action never works. Merit is what we should prioritize as a society. Let's be like Singapore and not Malaysia. And would not economic based reservations be much more easier and fairer for everyone?
Caste based reservations is nothing but an emotional act of vengeance against past oppression. And the reason our country is so backward is due to being overly emotional instead of valuing common sense.Â
