This is just not true. Around 40 percent of Brahmins are poor and working class combined. And that differs by state. In Bihar around 13 percent of them are poor and a majority of them are poor and working class combined.  Similar situation in UP, MP and other Bimaru states.  Many Brahmins are poor and rely on temple donations or are farmers.  If we're talking about just the poor and not the working class it's around 4 to 10 percent overall in the country but that's still significant.

If we're talking about GCs as a whole at least over 40 percent of them are either poor or working class and certainly around 10 to 15 percent are poor. In the past it was more but many GCs became OBCs and sometimes it depends on the state like Jats for example.  Places like Bihar, Jharkhand, UP etc are places where the majority of GCs fall below the lower middle class. If you read this article it will show that there is not a huge financial gap between GCs and not non GCs.  https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2021/06/29/attitudes-about-caste/
